What does "Quantum" mean? I am reading Tonya Zavasta's book entitled "Quantum Eating" and I still really don't understand a good deal of it. Just this word alone has me baffled. Would someone please explain it to me - perhaps by making it very simple somehow? Maybe you could illlustrate it for me? Thank you so much. Even after checking the thesaurus and the dictionary, I wouldn't even begin to explain the meaning to anyone.

doesn't it mean amount?

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/quantum
1. quantity or amount: the least quantum of evidence.
2. a particular amount.
3. a share or portion.
4. a large quantity; bulk
It’s a quantity. I haven’t read the book, but apparently Zavasta is talking about eating certain quantities of food?

Well, Im no scientist..but while quantum can refer to quantity--usually today it is used to talk about quantum physics. So I would guess that the book is about how your body works with raw foods at a sub atomic level?
It is also too complicated for me, though I have understood it in the past (for about 24 hours haha). I'm sure her book isn't that technical..but maybe I'd be surprised.

Okay after reading her summary of the book I think she just means that the book is filled with progressive and new scientific ideas. Sort of a "quantum Leap" in thinking about diets and bodies.
I also read that she is an engineer and mathemetician--so it makes since that she would use her interests to study raw foods from that angle. It sounds fascinating, to me. I hope you get into it!=)

Tonya teaches about eating much less food and the benefits of this. This really can only work with someone who has been raw for quite awhile and has no health issues. The longer you're raw, the less food your body requires. She eats 2 meals per day, stops eating by 1-2 pm and stops drinking water hrs prior as well. It's a similar philosophy to Paul Nison.

Here's a video explaining Quantum physics, sort of... its a cartoon, though and meant to teach children--which is exactly my level with this stuff=)>

Thanks everyone - I have to admit it is still clear as mud - even the video, Thick.
Anyway, most of the book makes sense to me and she is a great read - what a mind she has. I am really keen on trying eating 2 meals a day (lots of green juice, some seeds, salad and green smoothies and some fruit) and then dry fasting from 2 p.m. on. It would be much better for me than fasting on water for any length of time. I do better with greens.
I will keep trying to figure out why she used this word "Quantum" and how it relates to her way of eating.:o
Sue.

OK, freshlight, iluvmangos, and Thick
You are all on the right track. Quantum refers to quantity.
However, ”Quantum eating” is a genius book title because it borrows status from the biggest, most curious and most proved theory of modern physics: The quantum theory.
Belisarius, please don’t worry. Sleep well :).
One of the founder of the quantum theory (Niels Bohr), said: “If you think you can talk about quantum theory without feeling dizzy, you haven't understood the first thing about it.”
