I have some chia and I know I can make pudding and crackers or just add it to smoothies--but I'm looking for specific recipes that are fantastic so I will like it the first time I try it=) Thank you!

Well, this is one of my favorite crackers from Kristen's Raw, chocolate chia crackers. Love them with almond butter.

Other than that, I'm just usually adding a tbsp to a smoothie or using as a topping on fruit, etc...

I like 'milky' recipes for chia. Recipes that are like puddings.

My favourite recipe (besides soaking them in water and putting them in a smoothie) is below:

2 tablespoons of chia seeds
1 cup of almond/other nut milk (or more depending on how thick or thin you want it)
1 mashed banana
pinch of cinnamon
chopped dates

add chia seeds to almond milk and allow to soak for at least ten minutes. Add mashed banana, dates and cinnamon and eat!

You can make a nice warming pudding by placing it into a dehydrator till warmed through. You can also add other spices like clove or nutmeg.

No probs thick!

I think people sometimes get a little put off by chia as many of the recipes call for the liquid to be water or juice or something. In order to make it like a familiar sago type pudding, I get people to taste it in something like the above recipe, or blended and 'hidden' in a smoothie.

Chia blended into creamy smoothies is a GREAT way to get the old omega three into the kiddies! They mostly dont even notice.

No, actually I like the smell while these are in the d. My daughter came out of her room and said "I smell chocolate!" but then she looked at them and said Oh never mind. She's a die hard SAD eater I'm afraid.

Chia-lemon-poppy-seed salad dressing:

Soak chia seeds and drain out excess water. Add lemon juice, agave nectar, salt, pepper, and a ton of poppy seeds.

For a little color, blend the lemon juice and agave with a pinch of turmeric or bee pollen before combining ingredients. Do not blend seeds.

A little fresh chopped basil wouldn't hurt...

I like to use chia as an oil substitute. A ration of 1 part chia to 4 or 8 parts water.

This is a delicious recipe from Elena Love. I used to love tapioca. I added my own modifications in parenthesis. :)

Chia Pudding
(Tapioca with a Twist)

Chia seeds are a great source of omega oils, are easier to digest than flax and don't need to be blended to be digested. They are also great for athletes because they absorb 10x their weight in water and can hydrate the body efficiently. Chia is a great food for slimming as they are extremely filling and also regulate blood sugar. I served this at an Easter potluck and people were licking the bowl!
Serves 2-4

½ cup chia seeds
1 ½ cups purified water (to soak the chia seeds) (I used coconut water)
2/3 cup coconut meat (about 2 young coconuts)
2 Tbs. coconut oil (make sure it's high quality and smells fresh) (I didn't add this; I didn't think it was necessary)
3 Tbs. yacon root syrup* (I used agave nectar)
6 Tbs. orange juice (about 1 orange) (I have made this with the orange and with a peach and it was yummy both ways)
1 tsp. vanilla extract
½ tsp. butterscotch or rum extract (I added extra vanilla extract)
6 drops liquid stevia, vanilla flavor by Sweet Leaf (I added extra agave)

1. Soak the chia seeds for 2 or more hours, you can soak them up to 12+ hours.
2. Blend everything but the chia and water together until creamy.
3. Mix the cream with the soaked chia seeds.
4. Refrigerate or enjoy immediately.
