Hi all,

I'm Chris and I'm from Jamaica. Probably wondering about the "Stig" moniker huh? Thats a nickname I picked up from driving way too fast everywhere I go :p

I have had a problem with my weight for many years now and have tried many different diets but none of them have been successful and or sustainable so I have decided to try a raw foods diet for a couple of months and see what happens.

Why this diet you may ask? Well, the main reason is because of my dad who passed away last year. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2004 and had a number of surgeries that ended up with him having half a lung after about 3 years. He also went through many doses of chemotherapy and radiation while fighting the disease.

Shortly after the first surgery and chemo/radiation treatments, he started a raw food diet consisting of salads and juices as well as various nuts prepared different ways. He lost a lot of weight and got stronger and we suspect it was this diet as well as a light consistent exercise program that allowed him to fight the disease for so long.

A friend of mine also just started a diet high in raw foods and has reported that he feels 100% better than he did before. He has more energy, has better concentration at work, and is able to sleep better than ever before which is a problem I have been fighting with for years.

I have purchased an Omega 8003 juicer and a blender and have already started planning my meals and an exercise program with the aim of losing 60lbs by March 2010.

Wish me luck :D

I think your Dad would be proud of you and very happy that you've found this early in life. One tool that I think would really help you is Alissa's book and DVD....also, you mentioned the juicer and blender, do you have a food processor already? If not, I find that both a blender and food processor are something I use all the time. Good luck and again I can't help but think your Father is so happy to see you healing your body with raw and living foods.

The Omega 8003 manual states that its also a food processor. Hopefully it'll be enough for my needs.

You're right about my dad though. My weight was always a concern of his so hopefully I'll be able to stick to this plan. :)

Hello Stig & Welcome!

We have quite a bit in common. We are both in the Caribbean (i'm in Barbados), hope to lose 60lb (i haven't put a date to it but probably should), lost a parent to cancer, and have a heavy foot driving! :)

I hope you enjoy the journey and it brings all that you are hoping for in health
