I am very interested to know about this as well.

Sport, would you care to explain why?

I find splitting my smoothies works the best. Having 1 beforehand (30-60 min) and 1 afterward. This ensures that you have plenty of energy and nourishment to work out as long and hard as you want.

Many have different ways as it's all according to what works best for you. Some eat just fruit once or both times, juice, coconut water is the best after for replacing electrolytes, some have nothing. But many also complain they don't have enough energy at some point or mistakenly think they need more protein (some convinced even animal products). Usually if you have enough raw food that also digests easily, you should feel good.

Since I go running 3-4 a week in the early morning, before I start my day, I don't have anything to eat since I don't have time to digest it. I always have a green smoothie when I get back. But I do find that my energy level isn't as high and my runs arent as strong as when I run around 4-5pm when I've eaten food during the day.

A babana or something that has potasium is always best 30 mins to 50 mins before any work out. It is not good to go on an empty stomach as your body will try to use energy from what it has, mostly muscle. Never go out running on an empty stomach.
After running or after a long work out a smoothie is best, I would add some spirulina as it is packed with protein and other superfoods.
Hope this helps

As well as raw I am pretty sure this is a raw vegan site...do you mean raw milk???Most people here don't drink milk.:)

I usually do a piece of fruit since it can be digested quickly before a workout then after I do a banana smoothie with greens. The bananas provide quick energy & glucose for the muscles & my greens provide the protein (wheat grass, spirulina & kelp powder) I find that works for me pretty well

Bananas are an excellent source of energy. I usually eat 2 bananas immediately after my workout. Some studies suggest that bananas aid muscle restoration similar to protein shakes.
