What kinds of things do you do for yourself to nurture yourself without food?

I knit with very nice yarn. I tend to use the best I can possibly afford for almost everything with regard to my arts and crafts. Within reason. I don't have a pricey sewing machine or wildly expensive knitting needles.
Pedicures.
I'm not really very prissy about my cosmetic type things, like moisturizer or soap, but I like good stuff for my hair. So I spend some coin on non-shampoo shampoo and non-silicone conditioner. I have curly multi-textured hair and a lot of it, if I don't take care of it, things get bad really fast.
Oh, and the highest thread count sheets I can possibly afford. We don't know where this came from. It just happened one day.

OOoh, great thread. Love the response above, can relate to a few PammieTaj
My big splurge is books!
Just love the books. I love bookstores so its sort of a splurge to hang out there too.
I love cafes, to read books in,meet with friends and watch the world go by, (no wonder my last 'cooked' hold out is coffee!).
I am also a photographer another splurge is photo equipment, esp when working alot.I like funky old wallpaper for backgrnds and can splurge on that and other 'set' props.
I also like to scour thrift shops for unusual kitchen stuff and thrift store sweaters too.
All (well, sort of) the secrets are out!
My splurges are kitchen gadgets - things that will make my time in the kitchen more fun!
I also love thrift stores and yard sales... *Ü*

I like kitchen gadgets too!! Love the habitat for humanity store. I bought a pineapple corer, the circle one for .50! They didn't know what it was, they retail minimum $15.00 here.
photography too. Like the idea of old wallpaper for background!
taking my girl to museums & things like that. We'll save to get her the headphones. I enjoy seeing her with them more than me.
I try to save for trips. I'd rather go someplace & do some pics than eat out or do a movie.

I'm addicted to cookbooks. Always have been. I must have 500. Probaby close to 50 just on raw food. Earliest raw food book goes back to 1980 (Feasting on Raw Food). Its gotten go bad that the last three uncookbooks I bought were as Kindle books for my iPod since I've run out of room on my bookshelves. And the sad thing is, I never follow recipes anyway. I look to the books for inspiration and then just "play with my food" as Revvell says.

Haha! I have that one, isn't it funny how much dairy is in it! Anything was raw as long as you could eat it right out the fridge haha=)

Yarn, books, essential oils, organic food, did I mention books and yarn?
Oh yes, spending days on end just knitting instead of cleaning or working in the yard.
I have figured out that turning into a "mature" adult (lol), single, owning my house, retired, etc. I don't have to do anything I don't want to do. That is "splurging" at its finest!

-I also splurge at bookstores--especially half price books and resale shops.
-I was pregnant and nursing for so many years that it is a big splurge to have a babysitter and go do, well anything (or nothing!)
-going to the library (satisfies a compulsive shopper inside me)
-taking a nap when I need to instead of the old coffee
-going to the beach
Truth be told, I mostly nurture myself with food and tea--which is why I started this thread.. Thanks for all of your answers=)

I too splurge on books. I LOVE books! I have gobs of cookbooks and now have a growing collection of raw books. I also go for sewing/crochet/knitting books/mags.
I also use a food but not to eat. I use coconut oil to give myself a massage. It's a little tough to reach all of my back though :o
I am one to spend a little extra on hair care/ornaments as well.
I do get a pedicure every 3rd month or so, but not as a treat. I have two toenails that misbehave and Kim is the only person they mind. I did splurge on a manicure as well this time though, and that was definitely a treat.
I have been rewarding myself for reaching certain weights by going out and buying a new piece of clothing. Helpful because the old clothes are getting seriously loose. I find myself buying nicer things for the reward and then getting second hand or serious bargains for the necessary purchases.
Thanks for starting this thread! I really enjoy reading how other treat themselves.

Okay, you got my attention with the yarn talk. Visiting yarn stores used to be my favorite activity, but not anymore. My closet is so full of yarn I refuse to buy anymore. Now all I do is pull out the boxes and bags of yarn and "shop" from my closet. When my husband isn't home. ;) Once he looked in my closet for some shoe polish and I jumped in shouting I would get it for him. He reply was, "It isn't like I don't know how much yarn you have in here." :o
I nurture myself by taking time out for a cup of herb tea. I also try to lay down for 10 minutes twice a day. I close my eyes, relax, empty the clutter in my mind, and release the tension in my body.
I indulge myself by using my friend Kelly's handmade soaps and lotions.
When I really need nurturing I call one of my best friends, who also happen to be my sister-in-laws.
Spending time on RFT is very nurturing, and like right now, it is not all food related. ;)
Lately my nurturing has taken on another dimension. I have been in a frenzy of decluttering and releasing the stuff I have spent a lifetime collecting. Everytime I take a load to Goodwill or sell something on Craig's List I feel a lightness of being close to euphoria. Who knew?

I too have too much Rawknitster. I have decided to get "Zen' and empty my house, alot!I'm in the midst of a move and it is glaring me in the face how much stuff I do have.
As a friend said, he was feeling "his stuff was starting to 'own' him".
