Hi Curtis!

Thanks for sharing you thoughts on the PMC- Alissa's book is so wonderful! I sometimes get flustered in what to try next, but now I think it will be the PMC! Have you tried any of her recipes that you didn't like? I tried her spinach dip, and I didn't care for it much... but that zuccini pasta w/ marinara is my favorite so far... I make that at least once a week! I think I will invest in her pasta tool too because it looks like the texture of the zuccini would be more like pasta with it... it could only make my favorite better- and that's exciting!!!!!! Yum.... :D

Hmm there was one I tryed, have to get the name of it, I didn't care much for but after eating this way for awhile will try it again. Yes the zuke/marinara is great! One of my favorite to.
Don't make this hard Feeling Good, just pick one and make it. :)

Curtis,

I just had the stuffed 'bella for lunch yesterday. It was so simple, but incredibly yummy! I was suprised by how much I liked it. Instead of Bragg's, I put a bit of Alissa's Dressing on it.

Which Dressing - because I found soaking in Braggs was a little too salty to me.

Thanks Olive in advance!

Sweet lips,

The name of the dressing is Alissa's Dressing. It's apple cider vinegar based and really yummy! I've had it almost daily this week.

I made the mock salmon pate earlier this week, and I love it (and I don't even like salmon). Her raw ravioli is awesome, as well. In fact, I've loved every recipe of hers that I've made. :)

I made the falafels with the curry sauce (page 373) tonight. I love those two flavors together.

The only recipe I am not thrilled with is the humus. My favorite is a blend of sprouted chickpeas, tahini, lemon, garlic, celtic sea salt, cilantro and/or parsley.

Pad Thai gave me a new appreciation for those white noodley sprouts (mung) sold in bulk at grocery stores. The sauce is good too.

Alissa's marinara is the best of all raw tomato sauces. I win SAD people over with that one.

My family loves the flax cracker recipes too. Sometimes I grind half the flax before soaking, and I add an equal amount of soaked sunflower seeds. It is a 'meaty' cracker.

Mmmmmmm... guys, if you haven't tried Alissas recipe for Chilli... do it... NOW! It was SO good!!! I didn't have any barley so I substituted for sprouted sunflower seeds. This is definetly one of my favourites (and hubbys too)!

I'll definitely have to try the chili! Thanks for that review!

I, too, think Alissa's marinara is delicious! Some of my other favorites from her book are:

Banana crackers (although I blend a few dates as I like mine a bit sweeter!)
Date Nut Torte
The Almond Butter Cookies (I like what buckwheat does for those cookies!)
The Pizza
Tahini dressing
Avocado dressing
Banana bread
Blueberry cheesecake

There are still a lot I haven't tried as of yet, but plan to. If I can ever get my hands on some (decent) raw macadamias, I'd like to try the crepes! The last batch of macs I got were rancid

I'm so glad to hear about the chili recipe, as it's getting cold here where I'm from! I have the banana macadamia nut fudge cookies (p. 530) in the dehydrator right now... I had a little taste and can't wait until they're done! I'm going to make the caesar salad dressing (p. 475) for the first time this afternoon. How does Alissa do it?? :)

Okay you guys! Stop teasing me! I REALLY will order Alissa's book. Too much happened this payday, but next payday I WILL order it.

My mom just found out she has cancer with only 3-6 months to live and I put my money into videos - all raw - for her. This was more important. BUT next payday . . . . . .

But really, thanks for posting all your raves about Allisa's recipes. I can't wait to check them out and try them. We have a new potluck group that is starting up in my area and I only know one raw dish to prepare - raw spagehtti, so I'll need her book VERY soon. Can't bring spaghetti to every gathering :D

Oh Helen - So sorry to hear about your mom. *hugs, hugs, hugs* to you.

Thanks Getta,

My mom is not suffering, right now. She is at peace with it. She has lost 2 husbands and since losing her 2nd one 2 years ago, she hasn't been real happy and says she's ready to go. She did tell us she won't do any chemicals (chemo - radiation - YEA!!!!) but would consider something homeopathic. Hence I sent her some stuff on all raw foods and cancer (Dr. Lorraine Day). I talked to her the day she got it and she was all excited, but I haven't heard if it was something she was willing to try.

Thanks again for your hugs and concerns, I greatly appreciate that.

Cilantro is SOOOO strong to me. I made a dish with it, before I was raw, and I couldn't eat it. I had cilantro growing in my herb garden and I had to pull it up because it was so pungent. I'm hoping after being raw for a while, and my tastes change, I'll be able to eat it.

How do you grind your flax seeds? I don't have a Champion juicer, I have an Omega 1000. Eventually I'll work my way up to a Champion, but right now my priorities are (1) Alissa's cookbook, (2) a food processor - I just have food choppers now, (3) and a dehydrator.

Helen,
I'm sorry to hear about your mom. I'm going to email you directly with some information that may give you hope - IF your mom changes her mind about being ready to go.

BIG HUGS!!!

Hi Nutrimom,

Thanks, in advance, for the e-mail (I haven't read it yet) and your concern for my mother.

I just wanted to share with you that some others have told me that they have grounded their flaxseeds with a blender. They say you can only do a little at a time, but if you don't have a coffee grinder, the blender will work. Just an idea.

I use a Magic Bullet to grind seeds and nuts, but before I got one of those I used a coffee grinder. Before the coffee grinder I used a blender. If I recall it just took a little more time.

Hi Helen,
Sorry to hear about your mom. However it's nice to hear that she is at peace with it.

I was wondering, what other videos did you purchase on raw. The only one I have is Alissas. I can't seem to find any other videos on raw! Thanks in advance for the info!

Hi Raw JoJo,

I only sent my mom the Dr. Day video. Most of my expense was going home to see her (motel, eating out, etc.). If she does seem interested in trying to eat raw, I will probably do more research in finding her more videos. I just don't want to spend the money if she isn't really interested. I haven't talked to her in a week. I should give her a call and see what she thought of the video I did send her.

Hey, Helen, sorry to hear about your mom.

Alissa's recipes are amazing!!! There's another thread in the food section where we document our favorites. Last night for dinner I had the lime/pepper crackers dipped in onion dip. I swear I was eating salt/vinegar chips in french onion dip. It was so good!!! It's a perfect dip for baby carrots too. I added a touch of braggs to mine.

Oh so many wonderful things!!!

The Calzone is amazing. The burger buns make awesome sandwiches, Kale rollups, sushi, the blueberry pie, I agree....her marinara is the best I've ever had...and it takes 10 minutes! I haven't tried anything yet I haven't loved. Oh...just wait for cherry season and make the black forest cake (use some ground cacao in the base layer)...heavenly!!!

Hi Smasty,

Thanks for your concern of my mom.

I can't wait to get Alissa's book. I'm hoping to find a few good recipes that I'll like and won't mind preparing occasionally. Everyone seems so exicted about her book, so I'm sure I'll find some :)
