Ok, I've been madly making all kinds of raw desserts and food for almost 2 year now. When I see a recipe line like the example below, I always measure out one cup of dry almonds and then soak them and use them in the recipe

1 cup almonds, soaked and drained

Now I'm starting to wonder (based on a few results) if this really means one cup of SOAKED and drained almonds (measuring after they have been soaked)

Can anyone help clarify this for me?? I even combed Alissa's book for a definitel answer but maybe I missed it?

I have had this question too. I think if it says 1 cup almonds soaked and drained it would mean 1 cup before soaking. If it says 1 cup soaked and drained almonds it would mean 1 cup after soaking.

Thanks Snoop! That was my original assumption too! I just wasn't sure:)

Yup, I remember reading the same thing in Jennifer Cornbleet's book - she has this helpful section that covers all the basics! :)

1 cup almonds, soaked (1 cup prior to soaking)
1 cup soaked almonds (1 cup after soaking)

* The more I look at the word "soak", the funnier it looks!! tee hee :p
