Hello! I'm new to this forum. :) I've known about the raw vegan diet for several years, and have kinda flip-flopped back and forth between vegan and the Standard American Diet. A little while ago I finally decided to try it (eating raw) out and currently I've been 100% raw for 6 weeks. My main goal is weight loss. I do have some questions, but I guess it would be better to post those in the discussion area. Or is there a better place to ask questions?

Welcome to RFT. Congratulations on 6 weeks raw!
You will find lots of good information here. I recommend starting by reading some of the posts written by Alissa. My favorites are:
how to stay raw (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=369)
Fats, Calorie counting and More! (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=29033)
Words from Alissa (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=29032)
What raw books have you read so far?

Thanks for the links, I'm going to read them now. As for raw books, I've read "Your Right to be Beautiful and "Beautiful on Raw" by Tonya Zavasta.

I'm not familiar with Tonya. I'll have to look for those at the library, or maybe find a comfortable chair at Barnes and Noble and give her a read. I'm always looking for something new to keep things interesting. :)
Just placed a hold on "Beautiful on Raw" at the library. Thanks. They also had "Quantum Eating" which is listed as aging prevention. I'm guessing that would be about raw, too??? Sounds good, anyway.

Yes, I believe Quantum Eating is about raw food, but also talks about other things. I can't order Quantum Eating from our library, but I wish I could! Tonya Zavasta also has a website if you're interested in looking around there.
In Tonya's book "Beautiful on Raw" she actually interviews several raw foodists, including Alissa Cohen, Shazzie, and some others, so I really enjoyed the book.

Rose - Welcome! I've been going back and forth between raw vwgan and SAD (well, except I was ovo-lacto vegetarian) for 6 years! 6 weeks raw is great; I can't wait until I'm there again too!
Rawknitster- Wow, they had Beautiful on Raw and Quantum Eating at your library?! I don't think my library has any books on raw food (but maybe now I should double check!). That's very cool! You must live in a progressive area.
