Hey all you happy gardens!
I've been waiting for this day - and finally it was here. And I was ready!
I had 2 sm packages of raspberries
red seedless grapes
and the bananas.
And this morning, I walked outside and snipped 1-2 leaves off of each of my beet plants.......
And then I had everything ready for the best PINK smoothie around!
Just added about 8-9 ice cubes, and vitamixed that all together.
Supper yum! And the greens were free! well maybe a few pennies.....if you count the seeds! Next I will start seed saving!
My new goal is to never pay for greens again!!!!
I've got some lettuce and spinach growing in the kitchen window, and planted 8 more beet plants to be giving up the greens way into the fall.
Also just started some of these strange greens:

I'm so jealous of all the wonderful gardeners here. Someday I hope to master the art of getting just 1 anything from my garden. I spend literally hundreds of dollars every year trying to get a garden to grow. This year I have harvested 2 golf ball sized tomatoes and a handful of basil. That makes herbs and tomatoes pretty pricey around my house.

Loved your post here today T-Bird about your gardening. (and your yummy smoothie!) I had never seen or heard of your beetberry plants. They sound like something I'd like to try growing. And would you believe I have never eaten any kind of flower? I don't think I have anyway. I must try them too someday. Thanks for sharing your wonderful discoveries with us. Happy gardening.:D

So far the beet greens and arugula are the only real successes. Looks like a first harvest of cilantro may be in the near future:)
I have tomato cukes peppers pumpkin watermelon at least they have some buds/flowers now, but NO fruit - not even a marble sized fruit. The peppers I planted from seed 2 months ago are literally only 2 inch high seedlings.....I did buy 1 starter at home depot to help out - that has some buds at least....Hopefully a hot weekend forecast can change that. Losing hope - especially for the watermelon, they take a long time I think.
This is my first real try in 5 years......probably invested about 500 into this 5x10 raised bed, lol. I would NEVER have gone ahead had I known the amount of work and expense......almost 50 bags of soil to fill it.....who knew????
Hoping the learning experiences pay off throughout the lifetime!

Thanks! I will report back in 40-60 days on how they taste!

I am in Southern Ontario and we had a cool, rainy summer and my garden didn't do nearly as well as last year - I think it might be the lack of sun - i.e warmth. Not sure. I must add some fertilizer too this fall when I dig it all up.
You sure planted a lot!
