I dont know if any of you remember but in a thread a week or 2 ago i was asking about bread and since then i have eaten alot of it!! Anyway this is abit embarrassing but ill mention it anyway, i woke up one morning and felt really sore and itchy 'down there'. It was starting to really get annoying and i ended up making a doctors appointment.

Before i went to this appointment though i got thinking as the bread contains yeast could this have been a problem? As im sure i suffer from candida. My problems currently are acne, very flaky skin, blackheads, coughing and then this started. Could a product like bread have caused to make me really itch and cause a yeast infection down there?

Ive just been to the doctor and started of mentioning my problems and went straight into it about possibly been a yeast infection. I dont think he really took any notice of it causing the soreness and itching and said that a fungal infection doesnt cause flaky skin. After it all ive come out of and hes offered me a bath oil and some other cream for my dry skin.

I feel as if i shouldnt have gone to the doctors now as i always leave there dissapointed and know they arent going to agree with what i think about yeast infections/candida. Could you guys give me your opinion on whether this could be a yeast infection or not and could it have been caused by eating alot of bread?

Absolutely and absolutely. Check and see what's being used for sweetener in the bread as well.

I have stopped the bread for a few days now and i must say the soreness and redness has pretty much gone, its just the itching that remains.

Certainly will do, just to see what was in it that could have been causing the problems.

You can buy over the counter yeast treatments, no need to line the doctor's pockets for that. Or you can do what I did the last time and just use a glob of coconut oil as a vaginal suppository, and it worked just fine!

for the dryness...dilute 1 TBL apple cider vinegar (acv) to 1 cup of water. spray this on the area several times per day. If you wear undies, wear only cotton. I'd stop the fabric softener & put 1/4 cup acv in the rinse water. YOur skin may flake & seem worse b4 it gets better. I know this can be painful especially walking around. Wear skirt & keep it 'free' when at home. Use cool water in the shower. I agree w/the coconut oil..it will moisturize the skin..don't shave!!

i've put some watered down lavender essential oil down there and it stops the itching right away. ;)

Although you didn't specify, I'm assuming you're a female-bodied person. I mean, male-bodied people can get yeast infections as well. Well, assuming you're a female bodied person, these are things that I have tried for yeast infections:

Stick a clove of garlic in your vagina, much like you would a tampon. For some people, if the garlic is at all nicked the juice can sting a little. for me i find it does not sting and is more potent if i nick the garlic just a little. You can also sew a piece of thread through the middle of the garlic if you're worried about not being able to get it out again (much like the string on a tampon), but for me it's very easy to push out by simply bearing down.

acidophilus bifidus! It's a probiotic you can get at the grocery store or healthfood store. make sure you refigerate it so it stays potent. it helps to regulate the good bacteria in your digestive system and takes care of vaginal yeast.

It really feels nice to put a little aloe on the skin of the vulva to take care of burning or itchiness. I don't know about bottled aloe juice or anything. I would just get a leaf from my aloe plant and slice it open and put it right on my vulva, and that was very effective for relieving itchiness.

um, this isn't vegan at all, but a friend of mine also mentioned dipping a tampon in plain yogurt and inserting it. But to tell you the truth, i think you can get better results from just taking some acidophilus.

Make sure you are using a very gentle soap. Sometimes it's not about what you are eating. It's your soap. A harsh soap can screw up your vaginal PH levels. When i have an infection, I don't use soap on my vulva. I just use water.

Women who use a diva cup or a keeper on their periods should definitely boil their device every time they go to reinsert it if they have a yeast infection. The reason being that yeast can live on the cup and reinfect you when you reinsert it, even if you're doing all you can to heal.

Stay away from bread and sugar! Yeast LOOOOOOVES this stuff. it's what yeast eats.

that's all i can think of right now. Hope it helps and i hope you feel better! It sounds like you already do.

I would not recommend using over the counter remedies like Monostat. If you use these too much, your body builds up an immunity to it, and recurring yeast problems can result.

Do you have any other symptoms in your vagina besides itching though? Like discharge or an unpleasant smell? redness? Sometimes depending on what these symptoms look like it could be a bacterial infection instead of a yeast infection. If the discharge is like cottage cheese, usually it's a yeast infection. If it's more like a steady drip of cloudy milk and maybe accompanied by an unpleasant smell, it might be bacterial vaginosis. you might want to take antibiotics for that.

Just to clarify, The yeast in your bread didn't cause your yeast infection. They are two different organisms completely. It was the starch and sugar in your bread that candida yeast feeds off and thrives.

seb derm can cause flaky skin... it's a candida/dandruff problem. but you might just have dry skin or something.
maybe try applying coconut oil to a couple small areas but not on black heads or acne and see how it reacts... if it gets red or imflammed rinse it off and stop using it, but it helps some people.

i say just stop eating bread. you might be allergic to something or more in it as well.

Just to confirm i am a male haha :p

In reply to kidkid and other symptons, i must say there sometimes is abit of an unpleasant smell and redness. There was also a white liquid one time but i havnt seen that anymore.

I think its defiently candida/yeast problems as i took antibiotics for quite along time for acne. How effective are candida supplements that contain things like oregano oil etc? Ive taken coconut oil before but fats actually make my skin and acne worse so i try to stay away from that now.

i've taken a few drops of oregano oil with water for a few weeks and it helped my seb derm or rosacea.. not sure which since both can give red cheeks.
but i have heard oregano is good for candida infections.. don't apply on skin, just oraly.

aged garlic extract and shegoi apparently is good for candida.. found that in my notes today from a friend... but she also said a microscopist friend of hers said the only way to clear candia is by eating meat and vegetables for 2-3 months. i wonder if it can be with only veggies... but don't know.

The itching can also be from having an acidic body. Change from cooked (bread is bakes, right?) foods to as many fresh veggies as possible, especially greens.

Well now...how are you going to use that garlic? I'd still go without the undies amap so nothing is rubbing up against the skin.

I don't recommend the just veggies thing. I tried it with veggies, seeds, avocados, and non-sweet fruit. BORING! Also zero energy. I'm experimenting with low-fat raw vegan to see if it works like I've read it does. I'm on my first day of low-fat raw vegan. So far, so good. No itchy problems yet. I wrote more about it in this thread:

Whenever I get a bit of itching down there I up my probiotic intake and usually the itching is gone in a day. So instead of taking one capsule a day I'd take three a day or even a couple a few times a day.
