View Full Version : tummy parasites?
hi everyone,
after all your help and advice and much trial and error on my part nothings changed - im still ALWAYS hungry and eating pretty much hourly, eating LOTS, going to bed and waking up hungry, and generally eating heeaappss more than your average raw foodist. (compared to when i first went raw and i ate easily half the amount and wasnt hungry until about 11am every day).
i spoke to a raw food coach this morning who said i may have parasites and should take;
- probiotics
- digestive enzymes
- do a colon and parasite cleanse
just wondered if any of you guys have opinions/advice/personal stories on the above - i cant find much online info on what a parasite cleanse actually is? do i buy a kit from a health food store or is it more simply eating lots of garlic, cultured foods, certain herbs?
a friend who was similiar to me in the beginning of her raw diet went on banana island for one week and she said this solved the problem - she thought she may have an absorbtion issue, which it sounds like i may have too. any opinions?
----thanks so much guys, any response is appreciated :)

We always try to find a reason as to why we sometimes eat way more than maybe what we want... If you grew up eating SAD food then the hardest part is just getting use to that light feeling that raw foods give and enjoying it.
Of course there could be an actual cause of you eating more than you would like. How do you really find out though??
Could be stress
Could be parasites
Could be low on something (vit/min...)
Could be something that you do or take that is depleting your body...
Could be boredom
Could be that your unhappy with yourself
Habbits
Feeling tired
Could be lack of will power... who knows...
There are a million things that could be causing you to be eating more.
So go get tested :)
But of course adding a little more garlic/onion, probiotics, enzymes can never hurt. ;)
For me, I'd just get tested before doing any kind specific cleanse. I just don't feel comfortable doing any unless I KNOW that its something that I HAVE to do.
Peace ;)

Parasites thrive in acidic environments from what I've read and eating raw foods can (alleviate?) help with them.
I've heard papaya seeds paralyze them so they can be passed while knocked out.
I've done parasite cleanses (health food store) and I was terrified of seeing/feeling worms wriggling out of my butt--but the most I ever saw were tiny white things in my poo--which could have been hastily chewed cashews=p
My mom works in an operating room and has told me that they routinely see worms in people when they cut them open..
Did you feel this same hunger before eating raw? Many people go through an appetite change when first raw and have occasional hungrier days.
But, you probably do have parasites, we probably all do.

hey everyone,
thanks for all your responses,
ive started taking anti parasitic detox stuff 3x a day so in a week or so ill know if the problem was worms..
all the health professionals im talking to are saying different things - i eat a lot of fruit, and they are saying theyre concerned about my blood sugar levels going up and down, which could be why i have low energy. they think i need to cut back on sugar and do more protein, which seems like a shame because i love fruit and i think it has great nutritional benefit.
one naturopath says she thinks im low in protein- not eating enough - i usually eats a handful or 2 or nuts and seeds every 2ndish day, and the rest of ym day is usually jus fruit and veg - is that enough? they wanted me to have protein with every meal (i.e. 3x a day) but i dunno if thats too much nuts? how much protein do you people have?
thanks everyone,

Protein in your body is made from amino acids. When you eat what nutritionists have measured as protein, it has to be broken down in your body again into amino acidfs before your body can use it.
So, there is so much information available on every raw site about protein because it is a really common concern.
Do you eat enough greens? They are high in amino acids and thus available protein.

Hi---
Yes, I'm lucky enough to have both candida and parasites (even have a picture of one). I spoke with Dr. Brian Clement at Hippocrates and he has me on B12, E3 Live and large leaf aloe. I also take probiotics and digestive enzymes. He believes that once everything is out of my system, I won't need either the probiotics and enzymes.
Yet, I'm also to stay away from fruit for 60 days. It's greens, greens and more greens for me:eek:! Don't get me wrong, I like my greens, but the lack of fruit takes some getting used to.
Good Luck!

That could very well have been worms. That's what my cats worms tend to look like.
