Can I make the raw brownie recipe with 1 cup dates 1 cup walnuts and 1/4 cup cacao powder with a little vanilla and sea salt in the blender (blendtec)? Or do I have to use a food processor?

Food processor. You'll burn out the motor in the blender.

With a blendtec? Seriously?

Sincerely. Give it a shot if you don't believe me.

I have a Vita Mix, but I would do it in my blender. My food processor isn't a good one:(. Maybe you could leave out the cacao powder and blend it that way and then stir in the powder. That may help a little, although I don't think 1/4 cup is going to make that much difference.

I'm not the expert though, so maybe try it very carefully.

I've made it in my VitaMix plenty of times with no issues, so I'm sure it can work in the Blendtec. You may need a bit of water to get things moving, but that shouldn't affect how it turns out. Using very moist dates helps too.

I do make them without the nuts though as I've never liked nuts in brownies. So with the nuts it best to make sure they're chopped well either in the blendtec, chopper or by hand.

I've done something similar in my Bullet, and they're really not that great. The brownies turned out fine though.

My food processor died, so I have no choice right now.

I used to do those kind of things with just a knife before I got a FP. Works great, but takes a little longer.

Food processor is way better, like Revell said. I made these, and used extra cacao powder since we like our chocolate things very bittersweet(European style). I jazzed up the mixture with some orange zest too which adds a nice finish, especially after they've sat overnight in the refrigerator. I rolled the batter into small truffles and then rolled those around in coconut. These were a hit at last month's dinner party I went to, along with my raspberry ice-cream bites!

Thanks for the advice guys I first put the dates and walnuts in the blendtec and it didn't really work. So I used the food processor and they turned out to be very good. Next time I will add more cacao powder and make a frosting, but these are still very good.
