Hi,

I have an Easy Sprout Sprouter right now but I was wondering if it's big enough to sprout mung beans? I've sprouted a salad mix which included mung beans but not a lot. They are larger though so I'm wondering if I should get a larger container?

I'm considering a 1/2 gallon Handy Pantry sprouting jar. I'm wondering if it's too much though? I'm the only one in my family who eats raw so I only need enough to last me a few days.

Thanks!

I am sprouting some of these for the first time. I sprouted them in a quart canning jar, with cheesecloth rubber-banded on for the top. They got waaay bigger than what I was prepared for!

You should be fine sprouting mung beans in there. I used quart jars for a long time. I recently went to a half gallon and think that's a good size for one person. I can easily use up what I make in it. 1/2 cup beans will fill it. 1/4 C. or less of mung beans should be good for you quart sprouter.

Oh, that's a great idea! I'll need to find a similar colander with lots of ventilation.

Thanks!

ventilation = bingo :D

it prevents / slows mold development thusly making the sprouting habit much more leisure full / enjoyable :cool:
