I am going for a minor surgery on Monday morning and they want to take Dulculax or Milk of Magnesia the night before!! Yikes!
I remember that stuff from when I was younger and it causes major tummy cramps, I don't want to assaulty my system with that now.
I know there are probly some juices or teas that might have the same effects, but am not sure if they qualify as gentle and overnight. I sday gentle cause I have suffered with Leaky Gut for yrs and I am not sure I am ready for more cramping now that i am "healthy" now.

Any ideas???

I wonder if a short water only fast would work ?

For how long do you think?

I am not permitted to drink or eat anytthing after midnight and my surgery is at noon. I think I will drink a little bit in the morning though as I know it's not good to deplete my body of so much liquid for that long!

What do you think about a juice fast?

The letter said to take MOM or Dulculax the night beofre so you may have a "large bowel movement in the morning". Ok, that just sounds funny!

When we are eating better, we work better in that area anyway, and if allowed to eat b'fast I would have the normal morning "movement" anyway. But without anything to eat, not sure how that will work.

Take a couple of tablespoons of psyllium husks in a glass of water for a larger bowel movement. You can add vitamin c powder, if you have some available. About a teaspoon or more will make it taste better and help soften the stool. I would start tonight, take another dose in the morning and another one tomorrow night. That should get most everything out of your bowels. I would just drink juices until the surgery and after.

Another possibility is "smooth move' tea. I forget the specifics of the active ingredient--but it's fine for short term use and very gentle (to me).

I find that eating a lot of melon works for me, lately=) Or anyhting extra juicy and fibery like figs, oranges, pears, apples etc..

Thx, I will actually have to wait til tomorrow, as I don't have any Physillium right now. I will also start with juices only, maybe smoothies too, tomorrow, I think that will help lots.
I had thought of the smooth move tea, I think it's Senna that helps move things along.
Only thing is, I don't really need help i this area anymore, hoping I don't get a negative affect!
thankfully it will be over Monday afternoon!
