im currently living in ireland, where i cant get any good dates :( im going to be back in the states for a few weeks in august and usually i stock up on dates from the date people and bring five or ten pounds back. but they are waiting for their new season crop. any other good, affordable sources for dates that i can order from? nothing will be as good or as affordable as theirs :( but i need another option.
also, any good bulk sources for chia? in the past ive gotten from a mail order raw foods company but it was like 6 dollars for 8 oz and i want a couple pounds, cheaper if possible.

thanks :)

Hi Kaybee!!!! What timing! Welp, I've been waiting since forever for the next season to start up, it's actually crazy how long! :-)

I don't know how rawfromthefarm gets their dates before the season for the Date People, but I'd trust them!

Is there a place in Europe you could get them??? Seems like, even with the exchange rate, it might be better to bring other things back with you? At least you can get raw almonds (right?)...

thanks rawstrength. their date prices look pretty good :)

eva--i think that raw from the farms must be from last years crop still and they still have some left whereas date people sell out early in the year? thats my guess anyway. i havent found any good sources of ANYTHING here! the dates are HORRID. even when i get them direct from the wholefoods distributor they are ick. they are pitted already, and its 25 euro for 2.5 kilo. so basically 5 euro a pound but they are horrid. i got spoiled by the date people i think no actually not i think, im sure :) we can get raw almonds, but only the organic ones, cuz guess where the non-org ones are imported from ? CALIFORNIA! and i bet the distributors here have no idea theyre pasteurized! even the organic ones here leave much to be desired: theres at least one bad one in every handful... ick. and they are SO pricey too. really there are no palatable nuts avail here... they all taste "off" walnuts brazils pine nuts, all rancid i think! cant believe people here buy them and use them and think thats what theyre "supposed to taste like!" im trying to make use of whats available wild and locally as much as possible. the best and latest find is NETTLE SEED. grows everywhere and is supposed to be phenomenal for healing adrenals
also, lots of seaweed available. but dates literally make or break my ability to stay raw :( ... if i have an unlimited supply of good dates, i dont want any other "junk" food :/ so im gonna see how much stuff i can stuff in my bags, my pockets, etc when i come back. im craving artisana coconut butter too so hopefully pick up a few jars of that :)
