Hi I'm 21 years old and have recently been feeling horrible. I'm always tired, sick and just all around unhealthy. I went to my Dr. and they tested me for quite a few things. I have kidney disease but we already knew that, but everything else came back normal. So my Dr. wants me to start a Raw Food diet. I've read it isn't a good idea to just jump right into the raw diet but to slowly ease your body into it all the way. Just wondering what is the best was to start all of this and some support would be nice. I'm not worried about the lack of meat in my life it is very rare for me to eat meat in the first place but I won't lie I love sugar and candy, that is my weakness. So this whole thing is stressful to me. Also I'm allergic to Soy is that going to make this difficult?

Hey there! Welcome and great luck and well wishes for you.

Good news - most raw recipes are soy free!! Granted I keep around my Braggs, not sure if there's now in there off the top of my head, but there are other ways to garnish your food. =D

Don't let a food allergy hold you back. I myself - when not raw - am allergic to coconut pulp.. not the water or the milk.. just the meat. How bizarre is that?

We're all here to cheer you on!

Hey there! Welcome! May I suggest that you do a 30-day all Raw (100%)challenge. Do you have Alissa's book and DVDs? She lays out a 30-day meal plan...

I don't know where you heard that it's not a good idea to jump right into a raw diet, but it's not dangerous or anything. In fact, Alissa suggests to just go raw. You'll probably feel some detox symptoms, but it's not going to kill you. I say go for it.

Also, there are plenty of raw desserts you can make to satisfy your sweet tooth. Smoothies, too! When I want something chocolatey and sweet, I blend a couple frozen bananas with 1/2-3/4 cup sunflower seed milk (could use any nut milk), a date and a couple tablespoons of raw carob powder.

Also, I make fudge balls by mixing a cup of sunflower seeds, a cup of dates, and 1/4 cup raw carob powder in my food processor. Process until well-mixed and roll into balls and chill. The mixture will be kinda crumbly but will still roll into balls nicely.

I don't belive that there's any harm to jumping straight into it. So just transition in a way that feels comfortable to you.
Some people need to go cold turkey while others won't be able to keep to it that way and are better off with a slow transition.

You'd be happy to know that there are plenty of awesome raw candies and desserts. You can even make raw ice cream.

Just be aware that some of them are bad combinations of food (like dates and nuts) and can be hard to digest. So you probably don't want to eat that every day.
But still, it will probably be easier on the body than conventional candy so if you feel that it makes the transition easier then go for it.

Your need for sweets will most likely decrease once you get more nutrients into your body.

My Dr. was the one who told me to slowly transition into it, and he also said since I eat very healthy to begin with it would be fine. A large part of why my Dr. wants me to do this is to see if I'm allergic to certain things.

I am happily amazed that a doctor is recommending raw!

Yeah me too. We need more of those.

I can't recall that a doctor ever asked me about what I eat. Unless nicotine and alcohol counts.

Yeah, me too. Do you have an ND or an MD, shauna? I'll be totally shocked and amazed if that's an MD.

It's an MD He's amazing I've gone through so many Dr.s till I found one that I actually like. He's great, I liked that he suggested this to me and I'm excited to start.

JUMP.........Call it SUGAR LAND.........That is Natural Fruit Sugar, you can eat Dates, Figs, Dried Fruit. Agave, Make Chocolate Brownies, CAKES, PIES and they are ALL made with RAW Foods and are simply RAWmazing.

Your Dr. knows that with already kidney problems, eating NO meat is ideal for you.

There is also Plenty of Foods like Pizza, mac and Cheeze, Cinamon Rolls....You name it........someone has figured a way make it RAW.

I'd L@@k to the left and order Alissa Book, Living on Live Food, order that, which is Filled with lots of Techniques, testimonies and RECIPES.

Have you ever had a Madjool Date? Go to a Store and Buy 1, just 1, they can be quite expensive. Its RAW and taste like bitting into a piece of Caramel.

DID YOU J........U........M..........P........YET????
