View Full Version : raw dehydrated bread and crackers taste sour

hi i have been trying to make raw bread / crackers as a snack to carry around - every recipe turns out sour after dehydrating? I am using an oven because i don't have a dehydrator but it is on super low i can stick my hand in there and it is not hot - the taste is not good, i have tried several recipes, when I bake the same dough it is delicious but when i dehydrate it tastes off?

Could your oven be on too low? When I stick my hand in my dehydrator it feels very warm, not hot, but I do feel the heat.
I'm not sure what could be the problem, but I'm sure someone here will have more ideas on what could be going on.
Good luck trying to figure this out.

*If* you're using raw nuts as a base, you probably need to rinse the pulp a few times before incorporating it into the dough. It may be the residual nutmilk that's causing them to sour.
