So since money's tight, I figured it would be a great idea to grow some food in my home. Do any of you have any experience with this? What plants would be good to grow indoors...and how would I go about doing this? I appreciate any help! Thanks!

what is your experience with growing houseplants ? and gardens? :)
if you have no experience then i suggest you start small and easy. get as many free containers (start looking at everything as a potential growing container) , fill with dirt and plant lettuce and other easy greens :) (parsley, spinach etc.) grow these a few times and get the knack of understanding plant health .
i grew a massive zuchini plant in my living room once :) as far as im concerned anything grown in a garden can grow inside :)

i don't know much about lighting with plants... but i'd get some full spectrum bulbs since they have all the colors of the rainbow and this is nessisary for life. also if i'm not mistaken these are needed to start seeds and other plant bulbs can't be used.
some bulbs put out a blue color to make things grow faster and other colors to do different things... but i feel the plants would appreciate it to have full spectrum and also i'd assume would be healthier to eat.
and for instance regular flouresant house bulbs only have 2 colors of the spectrum and they are known to give people headaches, tired eyes, harm vision over time, cavities, SAD etc

there's some info on the seed packets how to start.. i think it depends on what you want to grow. usualy people start seeds in cups or those flower bed containers and then put in a bigger pot. if you use something that's been used before make sure to clean it out well and perhaps bleach it and rinse it out well.
i would youtube indoor food growing for some instructions and tips. but i'd imagine from start to something to eat would be a couple months at least. i don't know for sure.

Most Indoor plants need difussed Sun Light, not in direct Sun Light. Over watering is one of the Most reason for indoor plants dying. Most plants need to Dry before watering again. Sometimes you can go as long as 2 weeks to a Month without Watering.
I think its Best if you take your Herbs outside if at all possible, for a period of time, if you are growing Eidable Plants inside. Make sure they are WELL Drained.
Sprouts are SIMPLE and EASY to Grow and use in your RAW Diet and they are just as EASY on your PURSE.
RAW is only as Expensive as you make it...............ANN WIGMORE is MY SHERO and SHE HAD NO MONEY.........and she started a RAWverlation.

One easy way to get into indoor gardening is to start sprouting. Many legumes like mung beans and lentils can be sprouted. All kinds of seeds like kale, broccoli, and alfalfa can be sprouted into greens for salads. Whole unhulled sunflower seeds can be grown in dirt to where they form their first leaves and then cut for salads. I've also grown unhulled buckwheat, although there is some controversy about how much is safe to eat. If you like wheat grass or barley grass these can also be grown indoors. Sprouts are cheap for the amount of bulk food they produce. sproutpeople and sproutman are good sources.

Hi I just picked up an Aero Garden at Kohls for $35 on sale. It is really cool. I am growing salad greens and herbs. It is little and sits on my counter.
