I'm 9 months into been 100% raw but all of a sudden I'm feeling totally drained, really really exhausted like it's an effort to get one foot in front of the other. I haven't changed my eating pattern or food in anyway. We had a beautiful sunny day here on the weekend after having frost and overcast weather for days but I didn't even have the energy to go outside and do anything. I made myself sit out in the sun for a while but couldn't muster up enough energy to do anything. I'm not sleepy just drained any ideas why this would happen now. Has anyone experienced this.

Just some thoughts...Well, maybe you ARE exhausted. Have you been under any physical, mental or emotional stress lately? If so you may just need to relax and sit out in the sun for a day. Even the best diet can't compensate for everything. Sometimes you need to mentally detox. Assuming you aren't just in need of a day off, there are other things to check. Are you taking B12? If you were vegan before going raw, you may need to after nine months. What about iron? Have you had a blood work done lately? What is your day to day diet like? Are you neglecting any of the main food groups (greens, veggies, fruits, nuts and seeds, sprouts)? I know a lot of the raw experts say that after a period of time its necessary to shake up the diet to fit changes that are occurring in the body. I sure more of the seasoned raw fooders will chime in with their ideas, too.

Despite the controversy over whether B12 is necessary on a raw diet - I will feel physically drained if I don't take it on occasion.

To rule it out, take some for a few days. Can't hurt.

Taking extra iron always helps. Especially if you haven't been eating red meat, your iron might be extremely low.

My mom tends to be anemic and that is how she feels when her iron goes low.

If things were good for you until just recently then you may have just forgotten some of the basics. Here's a few thoughts.

Alissa says in her book not to be afraid to eat. So make sure you're eating regularly thruout the day. Another good thing to do for yourself is make a green smoothie every day. There's recipes right on the site here.

Make sure you are getting plenty of sleep. Stress and change can cause a need for extra rest. A normal person needs at least 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep. And lastly, get some fresh air and exercise everyday. Try a good rebounder. That'll get the blood pumpin'. But even a good brisk walk will help immeasurably. Hope this helps!

Even if you are, your iron might be extremely low IF you aren't eating a good quantity and variety of greens.

I think you may all be right, firstly I have been under a bit of stress, we own our own business which is quite large but the recession has had a major effect and we are just hanging in there but a thread, not knowing from week to week if we are going to have to shut the doors or not.
Secondly I started taking B12 yesterday as I had a sudden thought that may be why.
Iron is also something I do tend to get low in and haven't been taking.
I have a green smoothie for tea every night but tend to stay with the same greens which is spinach so wondering if I should push myself to change.
I have also woken up with a massive thumping in my tooth and have been waiting to have a root canal done so I'm guessing that now I stop and think all these things have added to the exhaustion and perhaps I should give myself a break and don't feel guilty about putting my feet up for a while.
