Don't you love it when you uncover fun things, like medjool dates priced at 1.49/pound, instead of 7/pound like they were last week. Sale price, you may ask? Nope, just a receiver who put in the wrong price, and the stocker put that price on the dates. 8 pounds of dates was all they had left. Mmmm
Just had to share with people who would appreciate that find.

Here in Canada it's policy (and law in Quebec) that if an item scans higher than the price on the shelf they have to give it to you free or adjust to the lower price and take $10 off if it's over $10. I got a bottle of sugar free sangria for free once this way (I know it's not raw but it's just red wine and natural fruit juices) and also had nutritional yeast that was $10.29 on the shelf but scanned at $10.69, so they adjusted the price down to $10.29 and took $10 off so I got it for 29 cents rather than $10.69.

I scored some gorgeous black cherries for 98 cents per pound when all the other stores were selling them for $2.50 plus. They are all now happily resting in my dehydrator.
The Krogers here have a policy where if they ring up the wrong price, you get the item for free. I try to watch as they're ringing up to catch the mistakes before they finish, but sometimes I miss things. I've shopped in that store for more than 20 years, so I know the staff pretty well by now.
Best kind of deal? Fruit gleaning from people's yards, especially if it's an older person with an apple tree. I offer to clean up the fruit, and give them back some applesauce or dried slices for fried apples, very popular here. There's also a local bank where the tree is NEVER sprayed and loaded with apples. Their attitude is PLEASE!!!!! take all the apples you want. I'll reciprocate with some nice apple cookies or muffins this year.
