At 21 years old and an embarrassing 220lbs (ugh...) and my own share of allergies and ailments, I have decided that enough is enough. The SAD is not cutting it. It simply is not worth it to continually destroy my body with all of the junk that floats in our supermarkets. I am rather ashamed that it took me this long to discover the torment I have been putting my body under.

It has been an interesting life to say the least. I have been interested in Raw for quite some time. It has only been recent when I have fully made the decision to go full force with this new lifestyle. Veganism (especially on account of my many allergies) has interested me a great deal and I was successfully vegan for about a year which abruptly ended and I went back to the SAD way of life. However, now I want a greater change. One more beneficial to my health. The prospects of the healthful benefits have won my heart and I am fully ready to make this change in my life. I cannot keep being so deep in the SAD. It's not worth the damage. So now, with a slight bit of insight and a clear mind of where I want to be headed, I am making the first step into going Raw. I am more than excited for the road ahead. =)

It's nice to meet everyone here and I hope to become acquainted with you all.

Alissa's book and DVD would really help you as you start out. They cover everything you need to know about the raw and living lifestyle and then all the things you didn't even know that you need to know. After viewing the DVD.....you will be able to make pretty much any raw recipe. The book will give you lots of knowledge, inspiration, recipes etc. etc. I have quite a few raw books and if I could only have one it would be Alissa's book and DVD. Good luck and welcome.

Who dat?=)

Welcome Louisiana=) I think you'll find one of the best things about raw is not feeling the heat the way you used to. I live near Houston and understand the Louisiana humidity and heat very well..it used to drain me so much--now I actually enjoy the heat of the day, really. Raw has saved me literally hundreds of dollars in summer electricity bills, too=)

I've got some raw hubig pies in my dehydrator now!=)
