Hi I am not completely raw but am completely vegetarian. I was just dx with low adrenal function in the early morning and through mid day and then it normalizes afternoon/evening. I was told that hypoglycemia is probably part of it and I should not eat lots of fruit in the morning and must eat protein. Sadly my usual morning routine is to juice my veggies and eat a bowl of fruit:confused: Now wondering if I should not juice but should make green smoothies later in the day instead and not eat my fruit but don't know what to do about the morning protein. Of course my dr (he is holistic) suggested I include some cooked animal product for protein in the morning. I know that I have an inability to handle stress which probably caused my adrenal problem :( anneh

Consider making a smoothie in the morning with a protein powder. There are a couple on the market. You can use hemp protein. Amazing Grass makes a powder called Amazing Meal (its pricey though) which has a blend of hemp and rice protein. I have a tendancy to be hypoglycemic and this helps me start the day. Also, try to use lower sugar fruit like berries. Smoothies absorb more slowly than juices so you don't get a spike in blood sugar which could later cause fatigue.

Also, are you using any caffiene products like tea or coffee? If so this could contribute to adrenal problems.

thanks so much for ideas. I bought some organic pure hemp powder today and will try that great idea, perhaps put it in the smoothie. Thanks and also adding a small handful of walnuts first thing in morning before I go on my walk. I wasn't eating anything all morning, just walking and then veg juicing and then big fruit salad for lunch but will now make sure I have some small protein when I get up as thats when my cortisol is lowest. I do have a cup of organic green tea in the afternoon but not in the mornings. Thanks again

dont have any advice on the protein thing, but some people seem to be having luck healing their adrenals using nettle seed. see www.healingwiseforums.com and search for nettle or nettle seed (just a warning: that site has alot of great info about using herbs, many of which can be used raw, but there is also non-raw and non-vegan information on it :( ... i choose to take the good info i can from it though). i started doing nettle leaf infusions (not technically raw, since i used boiling water though....) and my body was craving them; now the seeds are in season and im eating them right off the plants. anyway its somethign you might want to look into. the seed COULD be raw--mine is as i eat it off the plant or low-heat dehydrate it--though i guess you would have to ask the companies directly unless you can harvest them yourself
