Hi!
I am very new to Raw. Actually only reading and learning right now.
I am a 45 years old this year and need to lose about 50# and was drawn to Raw after reading about the Hypocrites retreat here in FL and then going on to read more about Ann Wigmore. Now I have read about several people who have lost alot of weight by going Raw.
I am confused about rather I should have alot of fruit as I am a bit insulin resistant. I have read arguments on both sides of the fence but still can't wrap my mind around a bunch of fruit as much as I LOVE it.
I have always eating lots of veggies but stayed away from fruit as I was afraid it might raise my blood sugar.
Well Just wanted to drop in and introduce myself. I have so much to learn but I am very excited!

Welcome. :)
Hello Ms. DaisyHair! (Cute name!), Welcome! There are some meetups in Orlando and a great raw restaurant (Cafe 118). :)
I'll tell you -- raw is easy. There is a learning curve... but it's way easier to eat raw food than cooked food! You can totally do this! :)

Thank you everyone.
I am more than excited. I feel so inspired by what I have read already.
Hi Eva!
Love Cafe 118Deg! I have been twice. I learned how to make their sundried tomato, flax, sunflower seed crackers in my dehydrator. (it's an old Ronco and I am pretty sure it is getting too hot so I have to invest in a new dehydrator!).
Yeah Raw!

Try green smoothies. I'm diabetic and find that my blood sugars are better with green smoothies than just fruit smoothies. I still eat fruits, just as they are, but I space them out. Maybe one or two at a time and wait a couple hours. Check your sugars and see how your food affects you and you'll learn what's necessary for you.

Get one with an adjustable thermostat like the Excalibur, Good4U, or VegiKiln.
Welcome to RFT! :)

Yeah Raw!
That's how many times I've been! LOL, I live in Jax, though. Just like to visit!
And I second the Excalibur. I've actually had a 4-tray, 5-tray (which was made for Hungary's voltage), and a 9-tray because of my classes. I wouldn't have another dehydrator!! It's really great.

The one thing that will really answer your questions and even questions that you didn't know you should have......is Alissa's book. It really will help you understand all the in's and out's of the raw and living food lifestyle. In my opinion it is a must. The DVD offered with it is really worth the money too. Good luck and welcome
