You can buy Labeled raw Almond Butter. It is hard to find truly RAW Almonds especially in the States. I think it is Best to make it yourself.

Here is a Quick and easy way to make it.

3 cups raw, sprouted almonds

They can be dehydrated if you so choose.

Add to the Food Processor, grind into small pieces. About 3 minutes.

Then put in Vitamix with 1/4 tsp. sea salt and 2 T. Olive Oil or Grape Seed Oil. Blend on Lower Speed then switch to high and you have a RAWonderful Low Temperature Almond Butter.

You can buy it. Living Tree Community makes one. There are other brands as well. It can get pretty expensive (15 to 30 dollars a jar). Z

That is a good point. I forgot about the difficulty getting really raw almond products. Your recipe for almond butter looks simple to make. I am going to try it.

Living Tree Community's isn't truly raw. Rejuvenative Foods finally has a raw one & Artisana is raw. Couple other brands.

Since 2007 all almonds from the US,Mexico, and Canada must be pasteurized per the FDA.So I would assume that even if you are buying your own almonds that they have been pasteurized and therefore won't make truly raw almond butter.I buy the Trader Joes brand but I am not all that strict about some things for myself as I new to raw, and some things just aren't affordable or easy for me to find.Remember also that the word raw is used very loosely on many products so it's hard to be certain. For someone with a stricter raw diet this can be a real issue.I learned Artisana imports their almonds from Europe but I am not familiar with Rejuvenative Foods brand.Nice to know as I like other products from Artisana.

joliepolie, the almonds aren't pasteurized with heat (except the organic ones I think), they are pasteurized with a known cancer causing chemical which is also explosive that is sprayed on the almonds. This is much worst than heat pasteurization. The chemical they put on the almonds was used as a fuel for racing cars until it was banned as a fuel because it was too dangerous. I guess they had to find another use for it and decided to spray it on almonds, just like the chemicals used for chemotherapy were originally used to poison the enemies to death during the war, now they inject it into cancer patients to make money from their disease all while worstening their health dramatically.

There are very few brands of Almond Butter that are actually raw.

I'm going to be making almond butter today do raw almonds have to be soaked and dried before making the butter?

Wow. Thanks for telling me. How do you figure out what is really raw? Is it true you can't buy raw nuts in the store anymore?

Both methods are still used..flash steaming or propylene oxide..sad part is the consumer will never know which since the FDA does not require any labeling to state this. The manufacturer can still put raw on it's packaging..it's maddening.
