I have been about 90% raw for a month now, and I am doing it not because I want to lose weight, but because I have had a mild-severe case of acne since I was 16. I am now 25 and my acne has been medium to severe for the last year. Over the past month, my acne has cleared up about 35%. I still break out constantly, but the inflammation is not as severe. Unfortunately, other health issues have also come to my attention.

-I am getting too skinny
-Muscle deterioration
-Pellet stool, constipation
-Shedding more hair than usual

I have always had health problems. I was dealt a bad hand of genes. My raw food diet does not include nightshades. I usually have a smoothie and raw oatmeal in the morning. A salad for lunch. Another smoothie in the afternoon. Another salad for dinner. Lots of avocados (I grew up on them), spinach, kale, almonds, walnuts, oat groats, fruits, frozen fruits, etc...

I am around a computer screen 24/7.

I am thinking about stopping the raw diet.

Greg - read up on detox before you throw in the towel. This is probably what is happening.

Some report losing weight - but then gaining back. There is some thought that toxins stored in fat need to be eliminated before your body rebuilds with clean fat.

With the muscles - are you exercising? I have built up quite a bit more muscle mass since going raw - but I also started weights shortly afterwards.

Make sure your oats and walnuts are truly raw. Unless you are special ordering them, chances are they are not.

with the frozen fruit - I gave that up after seeing some thawed strawberries - they looked totally lifeless, and I wondered if they had any flash pasteurizing prior to freezing. I still consume occasional frozen bananas that I have frozen myself.

Best of luck, I hope you find it within you to continue and see increased health soon.

oh yeah - and do get out and walk around for an odd half hour or so everyday. Get away from the computer for some fresh air.
