More proof that people will try anything rather than just change their diet.

Haha! I love it!

Better than drugs. :)

Worms have been a treatment long before this. In the 1920s and 30s they used tapeworms as a weight loss treatment.

I'd hazard a guess and say the worm has a mild immuno-suppressant effect on the human system, this would allow it to survive more effectively.

Most allergies are overreacting immune responses, so a mild lowering of the immune system would help immensely with most types of allergies.

It makes sense and is not so strange, humans have actually lived in harmony with many parasites throughout our evolution. It's only now that we have modern medicine and hygeine that we purge ourselves of these parasites, which again have actually worked with us in dynamic and as yet not fully understood ways.

In fact, there is a currently scientific theory that our lack of parasites has contributed to our high incidence of allergies. Obviously diet comes into it as well.

This actually sounds like a good idea but the cost is quite off putting. We have 100% changed the way we interact with nature. I`m an allergy sufferer so if this was a vaild treatment I`m all for it.
