Hi everyone,
I recently visited Grezzo with my husband and was totally blown away by the food. It was a total fluke that we even ended up there, but we did. As we stood outside looking at the menu, a guy sitting in the window gave us two thumbs up and waved us in. I had my doubts, but since we love to explore to cuisine, we decided to give it a go.
By the time we left there, I swear my body was abuzz and I was amazed by how delicious raw food could be.
We visited again a week or so later.
The husband was there again this past week and brought home Alissa's book. As we read through parts of it, we realized that we could actually do it.
Here's the thing. For the past year, we've had our four very young grandchildren living with us. It has wreaked havoc on our diet and exercise habits (along with every other aspect of our lives). We've each gravitated toward food as consolation for our misery. (Yes, I'm sorry to admit it, but having four little kids in the house is not really our idea of fun.) We've each gained about 20 pounds.
It's time to turn over a new leaf. The more I learn, the more I think that a raw food diet will not only support my personal health goals, but will also fit perfectly with my lifestyle goals such as living in a manner to better support the environment.
And so, we started yesterday with our limited ability and appliances. I'd say I was probably 90% raw yesterday and may do about the same today. My goal right now is to be 75% raw since I still have four kids and can't always do what I want when I want, such as grocery shop. My ultimate goal, however, is to be 100%.
I am currently shopping for helpful appliances (juicer, saladacco, food processor, etc.) and would appreciate any suggestions.
