I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Piankeshaw from Indiana. I have been a raw vegan for two weeks. Therefore, this is all very new to me. Can't believe I've made it this long. But, I am proud of myself for sticking with it.

I am an Ironman triathlete (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run) and I had Brendan Brazier's book The Thrive Diet highly recommended to me. Even though I exercise 15 to 25 hours a week and have an ideal height/ weight ratio, I developed Type II diabetes and needed to make some drastic lifestyle changes.

I attribute the Type II diabetes to eating too much refined food; particularly sugar, white flour, and potatoes. I had an actual addiction to sweets and carbs. Since the changeover to raw/vegan, my blood sugar has been stable in the 70's. I have noticed a positive difference in my energy level and my ability to recover quickly from a workout.
