Hi everyone! I've made the choice to go Raw!! I've been about 80% raw since July 1st (except for a difficult week following a break up during which I was practically camped outside Taco Bells door :o). I've decided that I'd like to go 100% raw. I've bought Alissa's book and a dehydrator and have been experimenting with different recipes. I'm interested in raw for weight loss reasons, I hope to lose about 40 lbs, and I'm hoping it will help clear up my acne.

Does anyone have any tips to stay motivated in the beginning stages of my new raw life? I'm finding it difficult to go 100%. I usually eat raw during the day but for dinner I'll have a half of a flax seed or whole wheat pita with some lightly sauted veggies. So any favorite recipes recommendations would be amazing! So far I've found I like the flax seed crackers and I have just put some of the corn chips in the dehydrator so in about 18 hrs I know if I like those or not!

Thanks!!

One of the Best Motivators is to think of it as a LifeStyle and not a Quick Weight Loss Program. If you think its a Die t, and you don't loose weight, SHAZAM.........you lose your interest. When you think of it as a LifeStyle, you are in it for the Long Haul and your Body will Make Transformations, in her time.........

I think that the best way to succeed at the beginning is to not deprive yourself of anything as long as it is raw.
Crackers help you to get over bread and avos are a great thing to make you feel satisfied.
Getting it right will happen later on.

Thank you both for your advice! I really do hope to make a lifestyle change and while I hope to lose weight that is not my motivating factor for choosing the raw lifestyle. :) (I'm really gonna try and not use the word diet!!) I found that when I'm eating a SAD I have no energy or motivation. I can already notice a huge improvement in my mood and energy level without even being 100% raw.

A few other questions I have about being Raw:

Is there any types of raw friendly alcohol, or should it be avoided to truly be raw?

Do you find it difficult when dating new people? It bothers me enough when I have to hear men questioning why I choose to eat "rabbit food" when I order a grilled chicken salad... Don't they know rabbits don't each chicken!! I'd like to hear some simple, to the point explanations for going raw.

Most Wines are RAW but I just avoid any Spirits. I would stick with Like Minds, there are RAW Dating Forum and Plenty of Vegeterian Dating Forum. Google some.

Alissa says in her book that after you've been raw for awhile, you'll lose your taste for alcohol. She also says that organic wine without added sulfites is raw so if you're going to have some, have that kind, but she still doesn't sound like she really promotes it. There may be raw alcohol that you can drink, but it's still not good for you. Look it up on page 172.
