I am trying to avoid phyto- and xeno-estrogens as much as possible because I am estrogen dominant. I recently learned that tea tree oil and lavendar are endocrine disruptors that increase estrogen levels and cause breast development in boys. All of Dr. Bronner's soaps seem to contain hemp, flax, tea tree oil, and lavendar, all of which I am trying to avoid. Estrogen decreases fertility in both males and females. And all of the population-control stuff on the package of the Bronner's soap is really starting to scare me a little bit. So please, can someone recommend to me a natural, organic soap with ingredients that I can pronounce, and no phytoestrogens? Thanks so much!

I do not have a label here to read, so I don't know all of the ingredients, but I really like two soaps. Both of them are bar soaps though. One is by Kiss My Face and it is their olive oil soap. They do have liquid soaps as well. The other is Chandrika. At least I think that's how it is spelled. It is an Ayurvedic soap and smells heavenly. I purchase both of these soaps at my local HFS. Hope that helps.

Dr. Bronner's unscented baby contains very little hemp and none of the other ingredients.

Hey this is really interesting. I too am trying to avoid all that stuff because my hormones are so out of whack. I'm thinking of trying oil cleansing, exclusively. Like the athletes of ancient greece. That, and soaking in water, and maybe washing and conditioning my hair sometimes. I'll let you know if I get really gross, shiny, clean, or whatever.

I love this skin care line (http://belladiterra.com/). It is so much better than anything else I have tried, which is a lot. I have used her skin care products exclusively for a couple years now. My testimonial is on her website. And yes, she is a friend of mine. :)

All the ingredients are listed on her products. You can also call her for a consultation.

I use "Olivella Face and Body Soap, Fragrance Free, All-natural 100% Virgin Olive Oil From Italy" I order it on Amazon. I use fragrance free because I am allergic to so many fragrances. The worst is citrus. Most are processed oils and are neurotoxins!! Be careful if it says all natural when it comes to oils.
YMMV

Hi RawStrength ~

have you seen studies regarding the effects of lavender and tea tree on hormones? Can you refer me to some info you found helpful?

wow! i bought some today after reading your post...pfft.. i can't believe the laver it gives, the suds, the feel, and yes it does clean! i haven't used a bar of soap in years!!!! and i can't recall any other bar or liquid working so well.
i might have to get use to the scent.. it's pretty manly to me. they only had 3 packs of the scented. if i can find unscented bars then i'll give these away.

I would also recommend the Kiss My Face soap that is made with olive oil and very little else. Sorry I don't have a wrapper either. It is a bar soap as already stated. It is an olive green color and not very appealing to the eyes. However, I'm guessing RawStrength, that it won't matter to you if it meet your criteria. I cut the bar in two and use 1/2 in the shower and 1/2 at the bathroom sink. Around my area it cost about $2.30/bar and lasts a very long time. Like 2-3 months maybe longer.

I really hope the breast thing in boys is not true. I really dont want boobs when I'm older.

Then again, I probably should just be using the Baby Bronner's now that I've been raw for a while. Guess I gotta run out my tea tree oil bottle.

Hi RawStrength -

thanks for this link. I did some reading and found this link that questions those findings. I don't have an opinion as of yet, but I really respect Dr. Bronner's products and don't want to assume they are bad just yet....:o

It's not that they are bad for the ordinary person. It is only a problem to those who are already battling estrogen dominance (which is most women, unfortunately). And actually from what I have read, natural phytoestrogens such as those found in lavender and tea tree oil are probably much less of a problem than the xenoestrogens from pesticides that are ubiquitous to our water supply and food. But for those wanting to avoid any kind of estrogen mimicking substances, you avoid lavender and tea tree oil and others found in this chart (http://www.dietaryfiberfood.com/phytoestrogen.php)
Flax seeds have one of the highest phytoestrogen contents.

I suffered from hormonal migraines caused by estrogen dominance. I have been eating a LOT of flax seed since going raw six weeks ago, yet for the first time in five years I did not have a hormonal migraine this last cycle. So I am guessing the raw diet is effective even with phytoestrogen consumption. Therefore I am not too worried about lavender and tea tree oil
