I promise you I did a search for this first--I promise! Can I just take some almonds after soaking them 24-48 hours, and marinate them in some liquid aminos?--That's stuff is pretty strong and might do the trick.

I know, I know...smoked is not raw, but I like that flavor and it's a good way to build a bridge to the cooked food community. I used to eat Blue Diamond smoked almonds. And if you've had them, you know why I miss them.

So liquid aminos or using dry spicy seasonings? What have others tried?

Thanks everyone.

You can do that, it tastes good. I like a dash of cayenne and salt. Spices will stick to a light coating of olive or flax oil, if not dehydrating. Though if they're still wet, that may help too.

Occasionally I actually use smoke flavoring for authentic taste in recipes like eggplant bacon. You can buy it in the grocery store. You could also try mesquite powder with salt and other seasonings.

Wow - all that sounds good. I'm going to have to try that with making eggplant bacon which I haven't made yet.
