Hi, I can do raw all day without a problem but late at night I get a craving for salty food such as crackers or popcorn that about do away with my willpower. Does anyone have any ideas to conquer the cravings or a raw food alternative to the salty foods? Thanks, Eve

Hey Eve! Do you have these foods in your house? If yes - get rid of them. If no, don't go out and get them.

Also, water. Drink water. Lots of times when we think we are hungry? We are really dehydrated.

Celery is an excellent choice for salt cravings. Celery w/a nut butter is an awesome treat.

Make crackers - Raw of course and have them ready for when you crave that cracker.

And, green smoothies really help beat cravings...

Hi Eve,

3 weeks raw and I have found that my cravings are totally gone! And I have things in my cupboard... "good" processed foods for my kids such as whole grain bagels and cereals etc... I make them and don't even feel the urge to take a bite. I've been so good and I tell myself that I am doing this for me and nobody else can make it happen except for ME. If you fill your belly with lots of good, organic things and drink plenty of water, it should curb the cravings.

Maybe your dinner is not enough? Not nutrient rich enough? In my other life, I would HAVE to have a sweet treat after dinner, some sun chips for salt, flavor and crunch. But, thats gone now. I also try not to eat anything after 8pm. It's just a rule of mine that helps me. If I get hungry, I have a big glass of water and some cashews maybe? They are sweet and they satisfy the crunch.

Hope this helps!

Make sure you have a planned evening snack. Falx crackers or onion bread if you have a dehydrator. That'll do it!

I second the green smoothie thing, whether it's savoury or sweet, seriously it's hard to have bad SAD cravings if your full. The greens really help. That is my worst problem making sure i'm not eating late at night. Load up on fruit before your dinner, get enough carb calories in, and if you're still hungry have a green smoothie.

It's way too easy to eat a whole plate of flax crackers or bread if you're having trouble slipping up with SAD foods. You could overeat on those and have a food hangover in the morning too. Unless you have really good will power and can only eat a few! Good luck

I find that grapes work great instead of popcorn as a TV snack.

Cauliflower popcorn is yummy stuff...but it does have salt.

Actually frozen grapes are really good, I haven't had those in a long time but they're great for when you feel like snacking.

I second the grapes idea. We usually munch through a bag of grapes with a movie in the evenings. I just 'save' that fruit serving until then!

i eat nori sheets in place of chips... they're a pretty good substitute!

i also find that sipping on room temperature lemon water helps calm my late night cravings.
