Weight loss? I have been 100% raw for over 3 weeks and the weight was coming off very nicely but all of a sudden I lost my appetite. I don't eat as much but I am not losing the weight any more. I have been at the same weight for over a week and I am very overweight. If I had just 10 or 20 lbs to lose I would think it was ok but I have a lot more than that to lose. What do I have to do to lose weight?

Hey there! Just keep hanging in there. Continue eating Raw, workout - DO you exercise? Drink water. Just perservere. Your body is transitioning. This is normal. I went through that same feeling. Trust me. Like Revvell says, trust the process.

This will work and you will reach what weight YOUR body needs to be at. Don't compare as everyBODY is different.

Hang in there!!! :D

I started exercise, but I have to admit I don't think I am drinking enough water.

AH - that really, REALLY helps flush out the gunk! You figure, we are over 70% water and we need to replace/replenish throught the day, especially upon waking up because we have fasted for a few hours...

Take a deep breath, relax.

Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day, and the complete re-healing of your body wont happen in a day either (or even in weeks).

Your body is probably just regrouping, before it starts again on the shedding of kilos (but probably more importantly the shedding of toxins and other body crap).

Take care and hang in there!

Be patient. Your body will respond. This time next year you won't even recognize yourself! Just wait and see. Many good things to come....

Blessings,

I have a similar problem- although I am losing weight on daily basis (but only 200g), it is no where near as fast as I would like it to be.
Especially, when you hear everyone else saying how they eat all they want and melt!!!
I excersise everyday with a personal trainer, eat very little (no nuts, oil, salt)- under 1 000 cal a day (yesterday more like 770 cal), have various body treatments, but my metabolism is insanely slow!
I also have a lot to lose, so it makes no sense at all!

Plus, I ve been a vegetarian for the past 7 years and have been on/off raw for a year (when I am "on" I am 100%)...

Silveretta - your metabolism is shutting down because you are not eating enough calories. Girl you are losing 200g (1/2 a pound a day:eek: - that is way too much for healthy weight lose. A pound a week is more like it. You should never drop below 1200 calories a day and that is near starvation. Unless you are a very tiny person who is very sedentary. If you are working out hard you NEED calories or your body is eating muscle not fat to get enough to sustain you. PLEASE start eating more.

Silveretta,

Sounds like you are not eating enough and your body is in starvation mode - conserving as many calories as it can.

I would up your calorie intake at least 50% and add in some healthy fats something like hemp seeds and an avocado or 2 would be a good start. Try that out for 2-3 weeks and see how it goes.

Depending on how long you've been local, it might take sometime for your body to adjust.

Jameriko,

The same thing happened to me! I wanted to melt away and felt it was quite unjust that some lost 10 lbs a month and I could barely eek out 3-5/month exercising and eating lightly most of the time.

Once I went 4 weeks without any weight loss. And I was counting the calories burned on the treadmill each day wondering "what the heck? Should have been at least 2 lbs by now...." But I had to wait......

Each time, I just stuck with it till one day, 2-3 pounds dropped all at once, and then a day or 2 later, another pound or 2.

What I did was evalutate my weight loss month to month, so I noted my weight on the 1st, then the next 1st. when I did this, I felt pretty ok with the progressive. Although it seemed slow going to me, it helped knowing that this was a total health program, not just for weight loss, and that when my body was ready, it would release.

Each month, I also asked myself if I wanted to make some changes, and I always said no, this is enough for me right now.

200 grams= 0.44 pounds

Trust me, I would LOVE to be able to eat more, but I do not lose ANYTHING...I had to cut down 2 weeks ago, untill then, I was eating all the fruit and veg I wanted (no avos, oil or dehydrated stuff) believeing that my body was losing weight, but after weighing myself, I had to go to an extreme...
Hope my body picks up a bit!

And hope that one day I ll be able to freely eat all the RAW food I want :)

silveretta,

You are training your body to use as few calories as possible, decimating your metabolism. Not only will it be more difficult to lose weight down the road, you might really pack on the pounds whenever your body detects any extra calories that it needs to save for the "next famine".

I encourage you to investigate basal metabolism and how it works and rethink your strategy.

Far better to lose weight slow, steady and safely than to jeopardize your health.

In looking things over - you're claiming almost daily weight loss of .44 lbs? I would have been delighted with .25/day!!!

Rome wasn't built in a day. Somethings are worth waiting for, etc etc.

Thank you all for comments, but I feel like I hijacked this thread!:p

I will experiment with eating more, I promise...and thanks everyone again :)
