View Full Version : Cosmetics, Hair Color & other girlie foo-foo!
Hi Everyone ~ I've been looking & searching for natural cosmetics. Ones that aren't full of garbage and that it's okay to use. For those of you who wear natural/organic cosmetics - will you share the brands that are really working well for you?
I'd like to ask that if you don't wear make up or color your hair, etc. - please don't comment negatively, okay? I mean that in a loving way, I really do...:)
I don't wear a lot of make up, but I do like wearing mascara, eye liner, blush and lipstick. So I'm particularly interested in natural brands of these.
And how about hair color for those of you who enjoy coloring your hair? What brand do you use? I'm looking for blonde, and I'd like to get away from the chemical laden dyes.
I've heard that OPI nail colors have a great deal of the harmful junk removed, so I bought their base coat and a couple colors.
Anything you can share? *Ü*

I don't wear much makeup either. An eyelash curler, a little mascara, and shea butter on the lips is perfect for every day wear. If I need some cover up or want to glam it up for an evening I use Bare Escentuals Mineral Makeup. It is the only makeup I've tried that I can tolerate. I bought a kit over 2 years ago and it is still good. You don't have to buy it from the infomercial. Nordstrom sells it. You can go there and get a makeover to test it out.
Lipstick is a tough one. I have a hard time with the flavors. I recently bought a tube of Shimmering Lip Gloss made by Alba that I'm having fun with. I found it at Seattle Supplements for $4.00 compared to $6.99 at other health food departments and stores.
I'm really interested in the 100% Pure makeup - thank you spicyfull! They look like just what I was hoping to find.
RawKnitster ~ Thank you for your post. I hesitated saying anything, but please know I'm sharing from a place of love. One of my best friends here was using the Bare Ess. makeup as well. When she went to my holistic MD, one of the things he does is test for heavy metals, etc by way of hair analysis. She tested high in bismuth. I hope I'm remembering that correctly.
He was surprised and wondered where in the world she was getting bismuth into her system. She called B.E. and asked them if this was an ingredient - yes it was - she stopped using it... She really hated that because she loved loved this line of makeup. I just wanted to pass that along. *Ü*

Everyday Minerals (https://www.everydayminerals.com/)- no bismuth, MUCH cheaper than Bare Minerals, and free samples (3 foundation colors, 1 concealer, 1 blush, all for the cost of shipping).

Deb, I appreciate the info. I wasn't going to post that, but I'm glad I went ahead and brought it up. I don't use it often enough to be concerned, but my daughter packs it on every day. I will have to look into finding something else, especially for her.
Hi RawKnitster - okay, phew! One never knows how info will be received.. that makeup does look incredible though, I've watched demos on QVC. *Ü*

Monave Minerals & Everyday Minerals are the best makeup. Burt's Bees has a great lip gloss now and what's really cool is it can be bought at Walgreens, if necessary.
