I have battled headaches/migraines/sinuses since a little girl. Any helpful ideas out there? I've done acupunture and chiropractor weekly since March. The relief stops when I stop going but simply cant afford $100 weekly visits. I've tried hot/cold compresses. No relief. Help.

Raw has helped me a lot with mine... though I do find that, during detox phases, I get headaches again (albeit more manageable ones)... Staying hydrated has been KEY for me... I'm also exploring colonics to help alleviate that detox process - I've heard it works really well.
Best to you!

Oh RG - read my testimony below! I feel your pain - honest-to-goodness! I lived for 53 + years with migraines. I'd wake up and chew up about 3-4 Excedrin PM's to take the "edge" off. That's how I functioned - daily.
Going 100% Raw - I have not had ONE migraine! NOT ONE!
So get Alissa's book and DVDs (if you don't already have them) and dive in to a completely 100% Raw lifestyle.
IT HEALS!!!
I entered in peri-menopause around the age of 49 (but women can enter this in their late 20s). I was getting daily 'hormone headaches', plus migraines. As soon as I went on bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), my headaches stopped. So my headaches were hormonal. I haven't had a migraine since.
I wish you ALL THE BEST - from a fellow (ex)headache sufferer, I understand!! *Ü*

I wonder if salt could possibly be part of the problem ?
Here's a link to a thread on this forum about salt: http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=51928

A low calorie or ketogenic diet seems to be effective in preventing migraines.

OH! Don't feel like a dork! I tell you though - once you totally get rid of the cooked foods, so will your headaches! Mine did!

Try ommitting salt from your diet, it really dehydrates you and can restrict proper circulation. A lot of people have cured migraines on a salt free diet. Try it for a week with out adding any to recipes and see how you feel.

A low calorie or ketogenic diet seems to be effective in preventing migraines.
A ketogenic diet puts the body in a state of ketosis - not typically a health-supporting diet, and being high in animal fats and very low in fruits and veggies, it is not compatible with this program at all.
My thoughts:
MSG and preservatives found in some processed foods can cause headaches.
There are chemicals found in many wines and cheeses that are problematic.
Chocolate and caffeine can trigger migraines as well.
Detoxing from caffeine can trigger huge vascular headaches, this one's a killer for me.
Wishing you well,
Deborah

I have just been reading a HSI report on a migrane cure.
What's in it? Just weeds you could pick from the side of the road! It's a homeopathic blend of four traditional herbs: feverfew, goldenseal, dandelion and polyporus officinalis.
They are claiming great results from it.

I had hormonal migraines and started raw a little over a month ago. I am all raw, to the best of my knowledge. THe cycle I had last week was the first one without migraines in FIVE years!

Yep, raw foods have helped me with those hormonal migraines, the ones you get during PMS and the ones you get in perimenopause.
