it's a lot of work!

3 trays flax crackers
2 onion bread (not full ones, out of flax now!)
1 tray mangoes per DDs request. This is a first - hope it goes over well, she's only had the sweetened non-raw in recent memory. She had the raw unsweetened about 6 years ago - didn't like them. SSHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh don't tell!

I'd like to get the last 3 going but

1) I'm tired!
2) out of teflex sheets
3) don't think I have enough ingredients for anything else!

LOL!

oh - and experimenting with different kinds

so 2 flavors of flax

2 of onion bread - probably just a whole tray between them just keeping them separated.

So funny -- enjoying your new 9-tray, I see! They're pretty hard to totally fill if you don't plan ahead!!

I just got a bigger one too, had a D day on Saturday AND Sunday. I have flax crax, corn chips, about 5 pizzas. And all I've really wanted today is soup and smoothie! LOL, go figure!

Onion bread, yum. I have company coming this week and will have to cook SAD food, but as soon as she leaves I will make some onion bread and egg-less deviled egg spread. I can taste it now!

ahhhhhhhhhhh corn chips!

I've got some corn needs using! but probably need a wee bit of ground flax to keep it together, huh?

Think I will go cruising around on the recipe boards!

I know I'll need the teflex sheets - but maybe in about 2-3 hours I can flip the flax crackers onto the regular.....

I've got kale - but no honey for my fav coating...wonder what I could come up with?

Kale chips?

Take your kale, wash it, de-vein it, rip into bit size pieces, then LIGHTLY coat with EVOO, sea salt, and some nutritional yeast. Spread out on teflex until crispy. Yum-OH! :D

I was following Alissa's recipe for corn chips -- which unfortunately didn't come out well at all. Going from memory, I think it was 6 ears of corn, 1/4 cup onion and 1/8 t sea salt, all pulverized and then poured on Teflex sheets as thin as possible.

I made some with lots of cilantro and red bell pepper. Yum yum!

I was going to do half corn and half flax with the cilantro and bell pepper, I think that will do the trick. I will need to play around with it. I bought a case of corn so still have, um about 30 ears left to experiment with.

:)

Love kale chips too, good idea Lucy!!

Can you put a batch of the onion bread up and make the eggless in advance too?

Just put it out with all the other food and see what happens? I LOVE doing that, sometime I don't tell unless they compliment it!

I already froze some for later! I will probably freeze more. My mom and I were joking about making popcorn in the dehydrator (not really going to do that!). I made about 3 trays of corn chips, so maybe I'm down to 20 ears now?

Don't-cha worry, I'll get it worked out. I WILL NOT WASTE ANY food! haha!

well - I eventually got all nine trays goings.....

What a day! It was like I was working in a restaurant or something, constant food production. Except it was much longer than 8 hours, lol!

A fw things didn't work out, which is heartbreaking considering the time involved!

The onion bread disappeared almost immediately.

The mango was not well recieved, but is gone. Criticism mainly: sliced too thin...they really disappeared in there!

sweet potato chips were seasoned nicely but never got crsip and kind of weird honestly.

I've got a huge baggie of flax crackers as the only real 'show' for it all, but my hummus didn't turnout! Will have to figure out another use.....

All in all, more of a learning experience than a stocking up!

We'll see about next time!

It's all about learning, isn't it? When I laid Alissa's book down, I was ready to make ALL the recipes, but I didn't have anything soaking, sprouting, or really supplies to do even ONE of her recipes. But I learned. We all have to learn EVERYTHING, from talking to walking...

You'll find that you'll get into a routine that will fit your lifestyle and tastes. I'm tending to go toward simpler ideas/recipes...winter time I do more gourmet. Summer? I eat seasonally...Nothing like some corn on the cob and a big old red 'mater!

Have fun!

Eva,

I've been meaning to do an experiment and was wondering if you or anyone has done this: Many don't know that ALL commercial veggies are par-boiled before freezing, including corn.

About 30 years ago I remember attending a county cooperative extension meeting on freezing and canning. I (was ahead of my time!) asked the lady if you couldn't just freeze corn raw. She said "no" that the sugars would continue to turn to starches in the freezer.

I was planning on doing an experiment many times, but never did. Would love to hear your results.

I'm planning on getting identical corn and steaming some/ freezing, and then just freezing some and comparing. But the results won't be for six months or so!

Anyone else freeze raw corn? and if it does just turn to starch, then it still may be just fine for tortillas ---my thoughts anyway....

Would love to hear others' results.

Good Point Marykay! Maybe it would be better for the tortillas and chips!

EmmaT--Maybe your company's already come and gone, but I think you should just enlighten her...LOL...Just make whatever you want and share with her. Geez, my kids even like corn tortillas that contain some things they don't normally like, such as red pepper and garlic.
