Hi I am new here, I have been a vegetarian on and off for the last 20 years but I was never completely raw, the closest i got to raw was 9 years ago when I did an alkaline diet for health reasons. I was about 70% raw at that time but I didn't realize the raw food was so important. I was focused on the alkalinity. I got Alissa's book maybe a year ago and watched the DVD and read some of the recipes I got most of the appliances but I never committed to doing the raw diet, it seemed too much and I decided to think about it. Well someone close to me showed me a video recently and was so excited about going raw and I decided to help steer them in the right direction because they did not know anything about raw, so I bought Alissa's book and DVD on Amazon and sent it to them as a surprise and I took out my DVD and watched it again. I gave information I took for granted and one day about 3 weeks ago I woke up and thought to myself why not go raw for 30 days to see how you like it. I went to the supermarket and bought some organic veggies and I have been raw ever since. I ordered a dehydrator on Friday and I love it, I lost quite a bit of the extra weight I acquired recently and I hope to loose a lot more. I have a vitamix and I find I drink mostly smoothies. I thought I should be drinking vegi juice because I have a green life juicer, it is about 9 years old, it's the one before the green star it works perfectly after all this time. I drink some vegi juice but I find smoothirs quicker but I am surprised how good I feel eating fruits too. I will meet my goal for 30 days raw but i don't feel right now that I will stop the raw rood then. I feel strangely at home and comfortable eating this way. I don't feel tempted as yet to look back to cooked food and my family cooks in the kitchen every day and they eat as they usually do. I do notice my kids are eating more fruits than usual but they are not eating more salads as yet. The first few days I did stay out when they were cooking but I am OK with it now. I think having the dehydrator will help me tremendously to get more variety into my diet. well I guess i will see how it goes but row now I am raw and I hope to remain raw. I feel great.

Hey! What an RAWsome testiment! Isn't it a wondrous way of eating and LIVING and HEALING?

Nothing like it. It's how we were meant to eat. ;)

Great post! Welcome to the forum. Isn't it funny about those green smoothies. They are so easy to make and so good. I have every appliance known to man, but lately all I use is my vitamix for green smoothies (and a knife for salads)!

Welcome Jameriko. :) Maybe you can experiment with some tasty dressings, dips and marinades that will allow your kids to enjoy veggies more. There's so many ways to eat them. Other ideas for them: soups, zucchini pasta, wraps, green smoothies.

Thanks so much, I do like the dressings, I tried the Caesar, blue cheese and a few others. I have not tried a recipe in Alissa's book I do not like. Now I am trying new fruits. I went to my sister's house and cut all the coconuts off her tree and I have been having coconut water and the jelly every day. I am enjoying this diet. :D
