i have a Pyrenees that's an indoor/outdoor dog... i've talked with people & they recommend the furminator to help with his shedding and stuff.. but i don't want to get something that'd hurt him. he doesn't really like being brushed.. loves being petted, but hates being brushed. lol unless it's with a people brush.. (spoiled isn't he?)... but um.. yeah.. just wondering if anyone here uses or would recommend the furminator or if you could direct me to a different product.

thank you!

here he is:

Gorgeous pup!!!
I've had a couple jobs that involved grooming and at both we did use furminators. I also have one of my own.
The brush does do a great job of pulling out the undercoat that is shedding on most types of fur, but it is doing just that - pulling. So if your dog dislikes being brushed with anything that actually grabs the fur, then I doubt he would be any more pleased with this type of grooming tool : /

If you get one, be gentle. Some people just rake those things across their pets' skin!! (The TV demos are way too rough, in my opinion)

I use one--I have a very old long haired cat. I brush him and then I very gently use the furminator. The amount of hair that comes off is astounding, even after brushing.

Your dog is beautiful, by the way! :)

We have cats and use it. Some of our cats love it some hate it. The cats that are not that affectionate hate it. No surprises.
Works great BTW.
A friend raises some kind of dog sorry and she uses it. Her dogs love it.
