If they want to make more nutritious food, why don't they just go organic? Something tells me this isn't about nutrition.

I'm boycotting Dole.

These people give me nausea. It is unreal and very frightening what they have done with food so far and they have too much power on our food we eat. People need to wake up and write their government AND NOW.

In Russia they tested rat with genetically modify potato and their main organ SHRANK.

You cannot play with nature like that.

lol if you ever hear someone say "hi, i'm with the US government and i'm here to help you".... run. lol the government won't do anything about it. monsanto is actually pressuring the government to let them control the seeds and stuff... makes you wonder why the obama's planted an organic garden, eh?... at least they'll be safe...

but i get what you're saying. maybe if there was a big enough movement, and it wasn't by a bunch of nutty hippy people, but "actual" people... maybe they'd change something or start enforcing some kind of regulations... but as long as there are people from monsanto on the EPA, FDA and now in government offices.... do you honestly think anything is going to change in our favor?.... i don't. that's why i am looking to move out of the united states. i want to get some secluded piece of property out in the middle of nowhere, in a far off place, and make my own dinky little farm and house and live there until i either die of natural causes, starve to death or dehydrate like a piece of beef jerky, because i am too old and crippled to go get my own water & there's no one else to help me.

lol- sorry for my enthusiasm.. or lack there of.. :/ just calling it like i see it.

two thoughts.....

1) labeling as "nutty" is there MO - marginal ideas they don't like.....

2) organic is starting to get big and "prefered" - I'm still awe-struck that our local ethnic grocer has organics. And yesterday - both onions and grapefruits were the same price as the regulars - maybe just 1-2 cents a pound more - seriously! I was so psyched!!!!

Monsanto is eager to eliminate true organic by degrading what gets certified or outright outlawing organic growing techniques.. I will avoid their porducts like the plague - and adding dole to the list.

Perhaps we should all write to dole expressing our distaste for this "joint venture" and say we will avoid purchase of their products until they disintengle themsleves from a monsanto?

Why is this happening? I also heard the owner of Dole is a raw foodist himself and doesn't eat his products. Anyone know if that is true?

oh, i'm with you.. i know that they're pushing that hippies are nuts.. lol that's what i meant, not that i am calling anyone a nut.. i'm all about green!!! it's funny how hippies were right all along!!!

and i'm with ya on writing dole! sounds like a plan!

you're lucky your organic produce was around the same price... i live in farm country and we have all the food chemicals can grow! lol so all the chemical garbage is like cheap.. and organic stuff is 3 times OR MORE higher than regular stuff!

He is high raw, he's the Murdoch guy who was on Oprah last week. There is a video link on the Oprah thread. I don't know about him not eating the product, they showed him buying Dole produce on the video.

ha ! I guess they feel they need to boost content to combate the loss of nutritional value when it is cooked ?

The food industry couldn't care less about the nutritional value of individual foods. It gives Dole a marketing edge, which is what all this is about: pure greed. In a capitalist society, greed is a virtue. You can't blame them for doing anything they can to get an edge in our "free market" system. Never mind that this makes the market the opposite of "free" for the rest of us. All I can suggest is to grow your own with heirloom seeds. Save your seeds from year to year so that you always have them. Eventually, they (Monsanto, the government, etc.) will outlaw heirloom seeds, so that everybody has to buy hybrid seeds from the handful of corporate seed companies. Those who want to "leave the country" to settle elsewhere...where exactly would that be? I hate to rain on your parade, but it's not like there is a "safe" spot on earth where the corporations have not taken over. It's a global market, remember? If you find a spot that is hospitable to foreigners, where there are no conflicts, where you are allowed to buy a plot of land as an outsider, the corporations most likely are already there.

Oh that's pretty true around here if you shop at whole foods or the big chains, jewel or dominics.

I do stanleys - a 20 minute drive, or trader joes, 15 minute drive to the one nearby or pick it up on the way home from work downtown, and battle 2 buses and a train in rush hour with my bounty, lol!!

I am seriously spending more money on food than I ever have, and I'm trying to be so careful too. But then I do a dual household, raw for me, and regular vegan for the kids.

They better not piss me off! :D

I am trying to win them over with stuff, the onion bread was a win with DS. Need to get with some type of cracker DD will like....
