My hubby decided to go raw with me last year after he did a 21 day green smoothie feast. He couldn't believe how great he felt, his diabetes was under control.

But... he went back to eating all the SAD foods he wanted... and ignored his blood sugars.

Well the dr finally put his foot down, wrote out a prescription and told him to take it. My hubby just turned 60 and the dr is very concerned about his health (as am I).

You can imagine my response *wink* oh yes you can! So... the prescription was not filled and he is now eating 90% raw. I got him stevia for his coffee and tea. We go for a walk every evening after dinner and if it's raining... we'll be rebounding.

Last night I made us a salad for dinner (so nice to have someone to eat with again cause I've been eating alone for 2 years now) and he said, "wow this is actually good" like it was a shock or something LOL I was hysterical... like I would eat crappy tasting food LOL

Then today, my daughter and I were talking. I told her that she is welcome to go raw to support my pregnancy and her new little sister cause she'll be raised raw.

Well I was totally shocked when my carnivore daughter said, "Mom I'll have a salad for lunch. It's time I added more raw to my diet" Her goal is 50% raw which is HUGE for her. I'm sooo proud of her.

So... two new raw foodies in my house!

Wow that is really amazing to have such a positive affect on those closest to you and have some mutual support coming from them as well. :)

I've gotten a few of my guy friends to eat more fruits and salads and consider eating less meat and dairy, but for some reason everyone in my family, even when allergic to wheat or dairy, they just don't want to incorporate more than a few pieces of fruits or vegetables a day.

It's really great to see your husband taking his health in his own hands and turning it around so he can have a long and healthy life with you. It really is rare, I don't actually know anyone that would honestly consider changing their lifestyle if they had a life threatening disease.

Some people say "you're just one person, you're not making a difference" but clearly choices of one effect more than just them.

Totally Awesome Aleesha!

I left almost 2 full trays of onion bread in the dehydrator - came back to 2 slices.

Dinner plans have changed - but I am pleased as punch!

But kid 1 and kid 2 did NOT drink their green smoothies this morning....will be getting on them over that!

They don't care about health - just taste, so I'm just trying a few things on them here and there, working it in gradual like....

Meanwhile - my mom has been so impressed with my changes - svelter figure, brighter face, that her and dad are doing wheatgrass daily and amping up the salads.

THEY like the onion bread too, and my mom said "I never knew raw food could be like this!"

Woot!

We WILL take over the world!

well at this point my hubby is being almost forced (by me) to do this. we are having a babe and i made it clear that his choice to have another babe (it was our choice but his part of that) means that he has to be alive to raise it. period.

but i agree... our actions speak louder than words and when people see us so healthy and looking good... they begin to change themselves. ;)

Go Aleesha! Well done!

I sometimes wonder how people could not like fruits, or veggies, or salads. Perhaps there was a time when I too didn't? I can't remember.

I too am so surprised at others being surprised that my food tastes good, like I'm a monk or something and I'll just live on bad tasting food for the sake of health (????).

Hope your hubby's results are outstanding!

he's sucking back a green smoothie right now... and if he keeps it up i know, without a doubt that his health will be excellent in no time at all.
