I have something that I don't know what it is

I was cleaning my cupboard the other day and found this jar of brown powder which I have no idea what it is. It;s like ground cinnamon but without the cinnamon taste, it tastes more like wood. It may be some sort of supplement in powder form or something but it was in a mason jar in the kitchen so it must be for kitchen use.

Does anyone know what this could be?

I have since got a Brother labeler and label my jars so this doesn't happen again.

Have you ever bought mesquite powder? Its sold on some raw sites as a supplement.

It does sound like it could be mesquite. You would know if it were something like nutmeg or clove or allspice, right?

It's definately not mesquite, I know the taste of mesquite and have it in a labeled jar. It's also not a spice like nutmg, allspice, clove etc., it has a very "plain" taste also like ground wood.

I guess it could be foti, but I don't know where I would have gotten such a large quantity (I have about a cup of the powder), I believe I had only bought foti in a small bottle in capsules, but it's definately something like foti and not a spice.

I just wish I had labeled it to know for sure.
