I don't have this problem with all fruit....just nectarines and cherries. And the nectarines kind of burn my gums too. I love them and trying to figure out what is going on. Any thoughts or similar experiences?

It could be they weren't ripe enough. It could be from the pesticides if they weren't organic. Or you could have an allergy to them, which is not uncommon. I know quite a few people who are allergic to stone fruit.

Some people are allergic to members of the plum (stone fruits) family. Including plums, peaches, nectarines and cherries. Problems only occur when eating the fruit raw. I read once that the problem may be in the skins of the fruit. You could try peeling the nectarines and see if this helps. Google Oral allergy syndrome (OAS) for more information.
