Hi everyone! I'm doing another three-day juice fast and am on day 2. I planned to break the fast Thursday morning, but now I wish I could go longer. I am going out of town this weekend and will be unable to fast, so I definitely need to be done by Friday. My options are:
1) Extend the fast just 12 hours or so, breaking it with a piece of fruit or something Thursday night. Then eat very small amounts Friday morning through the afternoon.
2) Extend the fast to be 4 days long, meaning I fast all day Thursday. Wake up Friday and start slowly breaking it, then just be really careful about eating all day Friday.
3) Stick with my original plan and just break the fast Thursday morning.
I guess what I want to know is if I will get benefits if I extend the fast just a little, or if it's better and safer to just break it Thursday morning.
Whenever I have done brief fasts like this before, I have been fortunate in not having any stomach issues when I break the fast. I go slow, stick with fruits or fresh veggies, and am fine. But I wonder -- does a 3-day juice fast even shut you down enough to require a big "breaking" period?
I admit once again that coming here, I realize a 3-day fast isn't very long and I want to try a longer one, like 10-14 days. But it's hard with my work schedule and social commitments (excuses, excuses, I know), plus I like to fast during the week I'm not taking birth control pills, so that way I'm not taking any kind of pharmaceuticals when fasting.
Any ideas? Or, do you just want to reassure me that yes, a 3-day fast is good enough? :)
