View Full Version : One day fast better than no fast at all?
Hi everyone :)
I know the old raw standby is to give things time, but I've got a meeting with my potential employer this upcoming Sunday, and while I don't have time for a long juice fast at all, I was considering doing one for a day. I've got to drive across the country (13+ hours) to get there, and I'm afraid it's going to ruin my body, so consider this a preemptive strike if you will.
My questions are:
Is it going to be worth it? I've never fasted before .. would one day show any kind of improvement in my well-being?
What are the best juices for a quick fast?
How do I wean myself back on to solid foods after a day of juicing?
.. Sorry, I'm still so new to raw and everything having to do with it that I feel like an idiot every time I post questions.
Any information or opinions at all would be appreciated... ^^

you don't have to break a one day fast. your body hasn't had the time to shut down. you can drink anything you want during it... or simply water.
if you've never fasted before, ... well ... honestly i have no idea what it would do in the way of improvement... but i can say it's not going to harm you. ;)

Really? I've read on a couple juice fasting sites that the ideal juice fast is 1-3 days. So I guess it's not worth it after all, then?
Eeh, like you said, though, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try and see.

I would drink Fresh RAW Juice, not any of the already prepared juices because they are all Pasterized. During a 1 day Fast would help you make the adjustment to feeling hungry and not eating although the feeling won't leave you until after the 3rd day. Next you could try 2 days and see how long you can go.
But a 1 day Fast before and interview won't make you Smarter or Sharper for the interview if that is what you were thinking. I wish you the Best on your interview and that's hoping you land the Job..........

I'd say you have it right. One day is better then none. :)

LOL!! Don't worry, that's not my belief in the least! I know better than that. :p

I've never fasted, but my concern would be that you might be feeling bad due to some detoxing.
Also, there's no reason it has to be only one day, right? You could continue your fast beyond the interview.
Good luck with the interview!

True, but getting there is the problem - a 13+ hour drive is not conducive to juicing :p
And thank you!

actually it is. very conducive indeed. you'll arrive less tired and less "jet-lagged".
ya you'll have to stop to pee every few hours but oh well. ;)
Yes, but how could I juice in the car..?

you make it, you put it into mason jars in a little cooler... you drink one whenever you want one. simple!

What about the whole thing about it oxidizing, though? I'm hesitant about drinking from a jar in the car, too ... knowing myself, I'd spill it everywhere!! straws, maybe? :D

i always drink from glass straws... so yup straws would work beautifully.
depends on the juicer you have as to the oxidation. but honestly... you are only doing a couple of days... nutrients don't have to be a priority. if you were driving and fasting for a month or two... then i'd be more concerned.
you could always do a water fast... but i wouldn't want you driving during it :P

You don't have to put it in a jar. Put it in a bottle, if it's easier for you to drink out of. You also don't have to drink it while driving. Fasting does not require constant drinking. You will need to stop and fuel up the car, perfect time to fuel up yourself. I think a day of liquids is perfect no matter when or where. Any juice will do, but personally I prefer carrot/apple/lemon juice to aid my liver.
P.S. Don't "feel like an idiot" when posting a question. Chances are there are a dozen other people who wanted to ask the same thing. We all learn from each other. 6 months from now you'll be the one giving the answers.:)

I might give this a try. I'll have to find some bottles or jars or something ...
Also, EmmaT, thank you! You made me feel better. :D Still embarrassed though ... LOL
