I soaked them yesturday afternoon until today, and it's morning. They are so hard though, how will I be able to make hummus out of them?

I havent' personally made hummus raw with chickpeas yet. But, my girlfriend does and she soaks and then sprouts for 3 days. She says to rinse them every few hours if you can and by day 3 they are soft and sprouting. She makes the best KickA** Hummus! :)

Soaking and sprouting information is in Alissa's book. Personally, I'd rather make hummus with zucchini.

I like chickpeas, and I don't have that taihini thing so it wouldn't really be hummus

Hi Jenifae ~ Would you be able to share her recipe? I watched a short interview with Dr. Jameth Sheridan by Kevin Gianni last month and he said he steams sprouted garbanzo beans, that we can digest them much better that way. (He suggested the same for sprouted lentils and broccoli).

So, to be honest - that's what I've been doing. I've made it twice so far. I've never tried making it with raw sprouted beans.

I just watched this YouTube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkNKM4B09bk&feature=related)last night with the recipe of Jennifer Cornbleet for Zucchini Hummus, that I'm definitely going to try. We'll have zukes coming out our ears in our garden very soon. *Ü*

You need to sprout them ---

I made hummus with sprouted chick peas, garlic, lemon, tahini, and salt.....

What a waste of garlic, lemon, tahini, and salt!!!

Dump the chick peas, pick up the zuchini, and get the to the blender...

I like to replace the chick peas with 3/4 zuchini, and 1/4 cashews.....

And YUM!

I've never used chickpeas for raw hummus, I've heard horror stories!

Might try them one day but I wont get my hopes up. ;)

Zucchinis come out really creamy and are great. Such a useful base for so many dips, sauces and wraps.

I've made Zucchini Hummus. YuM!
I beleive her recipe is real simple.
She soaks her chickpeas overnight and then rinses every few hours for 2-3 days until she sees little sprouts on them.
I beleive she said her ingredients were:
Chickpeas
Olive Oil
Lemon Juice
Garlic

I don't know the amounts I'll have to ask.
