By fasting, or topical treatment, or any other way? I've heard that fasting can cure problems such as this. Thanks for your time.

Actually, it's your body that heals itself eventually (which includes dieing btw as a way to get rid of the disease). The body is able to do this as long as the immune system is up to par. So it depends on how healthy you are. An abscess shows that your body is hard at work getting rid of something. Fasting takes the stress of digestion away from the body so it can throw all its resources at fighting the invaders. So you could just go on a juice fast (get enough nutrients to continue your daily work) and let your body handle the healing. Educate yourself about Natural Hygiene, which tells you all about your body's abilities to sustain life and health.

That is an excellent suggestion - a juice fast. I'm excited to try it, thank you!

I will definitely try that as well - I just purchased some sesame oil today, as a matter of fact. Thank you so much. I think deep down inside I knew of and knew I should try both oil pulling and juice fasting but I needed someone to remind me.

Unfortunately for me, being the dental problem queen due to a lifetime of eating sugar, i have had abscesses and i would not play around with them. There are times when you have to trust conventional medicine to treat something. An abscess, especially on an upper tooth, can get much worse and is near your sinuses and brain, i wouldn't mess around with that. I had one abscess on an upper tooth that really hurt but the dentist couldn't find anything, even with xrays, until it worked it's way through my bones to the other side of the ridge, coming out the other end, wow, that was horrible, you don't want that to happen. He called it a "fistula" then. It will eat into your bone, it's a mess. Please consider this. I have never had any abscess get better on it's own, i would bite the bullet and go to the dentist.

A year and a half ago I got my first, and hopefully ONLY, abcess after having a filling replaced. Wow, it was so painful, I hope never to repeat that experience! After getting the abcess settled down with two rounds of antibiotics, I embarked on a regime of oil pulling, topical application of this black crystal ointment, and using a magnetic pulsar over the site. I have had no re-occurence of the abcess and the tooth is perfectly sound. I can crunch ice with no symptoms, whereas at the time that would send me into the throes of agony!

Now that's interesting! Can you elaborate on this black crystal ointment and the magnetic pulsar?

I would not play around with the tooth either. I would get it fixed by the doc/dentist and THEN do preventative measures like the oil pulling. I have read about abscesses causing more health problems than you want.

I fully agree with Gabriele. People used to die from tooth absesses.

I wouldn't go to a doctor to "heal" me from a disease perhaps--but I think doctors are fantastic when it comes to mechanical issues like sewing you up or fixing a bone or tooth.

So, please go to the dentist--and in the interim swishing with apple cider vinegar really has helped me with tooth pain before.

And from my understanding, and i'm certainly not a doctor, those abscesses (and also bacteria from treated root canalized teeth) are in little chambers and pockets deep in your mouth that your body has a hard time healing on its own, even with a very healthy diet. I have had root canalized teeth that still developed abscesses, because no matter what your dentist or endodontist tells you, they do not remove all the bacteria with those procedures.

Here I am talking like a know-it-all but when i was told i had "mild heart disease" i decided to NOT go back to the doctor and am treating it myself by trying to reverse it through a plant based diet and avoiding statin drugs. But that's another topic altogether!!

For some things you need the help of antibiotics and conventional medical intervention (just not heart disease in my opinion).

That is why the magnetic pulsars are supposed to be helpful because they penetrate bone and can kill bacteria in closed off places.

The crystal salve I used I found here:http://www.ascendedhealth.com/gum-disease/gum_disease_remedy_xs.htm

The pulsar I bought on eBay, one like this:http://cgi.ebay.com/BOB-BECK-MAGNETIC-PULSER-MODEL-SUNPAK-2000-DZ_W0QQitemZ250442070916QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_Defa ultDomain_0?hash=item3a4f82bb84&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1205|293%3A1| 294%3A50

It is used according to the Bob Beck protocol. Bob Beck was a pioneer in alternative medicine and has many documented cures for cancer etc.

You can read my complete testimony about my tooth at:http://www.curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=1345021#i

I have since had the tooth xrayed and all is well. I am not saying this will work for all teeth, but when the only alternative you are given is a root canal or extraction, with all the problems those entail, this is worth a try!

I would get it extracted because the pulp is probably dead or dying. Root canals are always toxic. Extractions also can cause serious problems if not done properly. The periodontal ligament MUST be removed in its entirety, and ALL infected bone must be removed. Otherwise, it will never heal.

Thanks so much for all of the replies. I've had countless abscessed teeth in my life and I know what it feels like. I don't have any pain yet, just pressure and a bit of throbbing. It's a bottom molar. I definitely won't let it get to the point where I'm risking my health....just a few days of juice fasting and oil pulling and then off to the oral surgeon for extraction if no improvement. The thought of taking one or two rounds of antibiotics is just killing me though! It just seems like such a setback. But of course if I have to do it I will.

An oral surgeon can test the tooth for vitality. If it conducts electricity it is alive and possibly can be saved. If it does not conduct electricity, the pulp is dead.

I guess I don't see why we believe our bodies are healed from such things as cancer and heart disease and diabetes and yet can be defeated by a tooth! I believe God made our bodies, including our teeth, to be disease free if we take care of them right and nourish them right. Sergei Boutenkas (sp?) said all his fillings popped out and the cavities filled themselves in after he went raw! My tooth is alive and well, with normal sensation, color and function.
It is worth a shot to try and heal a tooth. If it doesn't work, THEN see the dentist. Fortunately for me, it worked and spared me a root canal, which my dentist told me I HAD to have, no question, no options.

I have read a lot and i believe with some things you have to take it with a grain of salt, i just can't bring myself to believe that eating raw will make your fillings pop out and then that cavities will fill themselves. I might be completely wrong but i don't believe it. I think healthy foods can probably clean out arteries, probably combat some cancers by boosting the immune system, but teeth are a different story. I think you can probably help your gums and maybe some superficial infections, but not deep in the tooth or dental abscesses. I just don't buy that...

Well, I have the xrays and the tooth to prove that root canals and extractions are not the only path to take!

It may be temporary, but I can eat on that side of my mouth today! When I bite down, the tooth doesn't hurt or throb anymore. I juice fasted for only one day, and have been doing oil pulling with sesame oil, and eating 100% raw. I will see where this goes! Extraction is definitely still an option, but I'm open to exploring trying to heal this myself.

How do you actually KNOW it's an absessed tooth? I mean.. I have a very swollen gum now, and am extremely nervous about it. My tooth does not hurt, but my gum is very sensitive. I get butterflies just thinking about going to the dentist and have nightmares!

I DO know that I should go, since it's been a while, but am really, really scared..

Ok, for ME, when i had an abscessed tooth, i couldn't even bite down on a piece of cake on the affected tooth, it was so painful. It wasn't just swollen gums, although i can't say that isn't abscessed or won't be later........i remember eating birthday cake, really soft, and just one bite on that tooth was so painful i had to go lie down in bed and wait one hour for the waves of pain to subside. ANd i have very high pain tolerance. It is usually so painful you know something is wrong.

Keep an eye on it.......wanted to add to this forum that i had a friend, with horrendous oral hygiene, who has had 2 abscesses while i've known her, she took antibiotics for 10 days each time and then she was ok, meaning she never went to the dentist (for fear) and never followed up, but that infection is festering in there, i'm convinced. So, you can have an abscess that's treated but not "fixed" and feel no pain either.

There are natural remedies to heal teeth and gum issues such as Healing Clay (Calcium Montmorillonite Bentonite) and Dr. Schulze Tooth & Gum Formula (or other similar formulas).

Yes, an abscessed tooth is itself very painful and tender to pressure, and also painfully sensitive to hot and cold.

My tooth continues to not hurt, and I can bite down hard on that side of my mouth again. I'll keep reporting back to update if there are any changes.

When I get abscess I drink a whole lot of green tea.

Last time I had an abscessed tooth I jammed a toothpick into it to relieve the pressure then rinsed with hydrogen peroxide and salt water. It healed the next day.
