I had the best dehydrated onion rings last night... same place as the squash raviolis. Coating was ground flax and something else.

Any favorites on dehydrators and where to buy?

I have the Excaliber Dehydrator and love it. It is a bit high but I'm told it is one of the best and will last forever (?) :) I found it at Harvest Essentials online http://www.harvestessentials.com/excalibur.html

Don't forget to click on the left side for a coupon for $10 off and with free shipping it's worth saving up for. My dehydrator has been what has kept me raw. :D

Squash raviolis sound absolutely wonderful, and the onion rings. Do you have those recipes? So far I have only used my dehydrator for crackers, breads and dried fruits and nuts.

No timers on any of the Harvest ones. Am I reading that correctly?

I bought my Excalibur directly from Excalibur. I prefer to buy directly from the manufacturer - that way if there's ever a problem, I'm talking directly to them. It's just a personal preference of mine...

Do you have the recipe for the onion rings - I'd love to try them! *Ü*

Mine doesn't have a timer on it. I don't know about the deluxe dehydrators. Did you get one that does? I really like mine, but a timer would be nice. :)

I bought my Excalibur from Rawguru (http://www.rawguru.com/store/raw-food-diet/excalibur_dehydrator/). I have used them for a number of items and have always had good luck.

The onion ring recipe still remains a mystery!!! We went back to the restaurant and they were very reluctant to give up the ingredients!

They said ground golden organic flas and some sort of nut... maybe macadania? Dip in olive oil and coat with mixture. The onion rings that we had did not look like the onion rings on the link that was sent in a prior response... more dehydtared looking. But sooo yummy.

I read somewhere that you can "heat" things in a conventional oven at 70F. Is this true? Some raw foodists say that this can replace a hydrator.

Shopping for a dehydrator is a bit frustrating as they all say how good venison jerky is... have links for hunters. A bit discomforting.

Very true, Back@2Healthy!

I was a bit peeved with the excalibur people, they had mini-profiles of the 5 types of people who use the dehydrator....the hunter of course, gardener, senior, something else and the "health conscious" one - who "limits meat"

They couldn't even have a vegetarian in there???? Noooooooooooooooooooooooothey wouldn't want to offend any meat eaters who bought it!

Well - I was offended, but too late - it was already purchased and delivered.....I might have had to make a stand of it, lol!

I bought a good4u dehydrator. It is as good as the excalibur, only it is cheaper. I bought it at 2 life health products in Grants Pass, Or.

Check ebay. They have the Good4U and VegiKiln for cheaper than an Excalibur.
