Hi I also am new to this raw lifestyle. 18 months ago I was directed toward raw living when my husbands normally non-agressive leukemia went wild. The doctors encouraged us to get started on chemo. My dh refused it. Later that day we were directed to another program encouraging raw living. In less than 2 days we went to the oncologist again so we juiced like crazy. This time with 39 hours of juicing carrots and greens his blood count was below what he was when he was diagnosed. Praise God, no chemo.

Don't know why we didn't stick with it, but we didn't. Then 6 months ago my diabetes went way out of control. I was taking 7 prescriptions a day plus time released injections at night before going to bed. I was still running 250 and higher on my glucose readings. Finally I went raw. 85% raw vegan and 15% cooked vegan for comfort. Really more like 90/10.

Results:
2 days in - dropped 2 pills.
4 days in - dropped injections by 1/2
12 days in - quit taking medications completely
Today 18 days in - fasting blood sugar 133, NO meds, lost 10.5 lbs.
Praise God, He lives, and so do I.

Today I am a believer and raw for life. I feel great!! My husband is very very supportive. He has also been doing this for about a week. I went looking for support and new recipes to settle down with and found this forum yesterday so here I am, and excited to be here. :)

Well, thats my story. Thanks for listening. Hope to make some new friends here soon. :-)

Keep up with it, both of you. It's worth it. I'm diabetic, too, and my numbers are great as long as I eat raw. In my opinion, green smoothies is where it's at. Have you tried 'em?

Welcome to RFT. :)

Wow I am so happy to hear your story. Raw does help give our body the nutrients it needs to heal. It is amazing how just a couple days or a week or eating raw can make. I wish everyone in the world could understand the beauty of eating more raw foods. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks all for your kind words. I was so excited when I got on the scales this morning....right after taking my blood sugar reading. Wow! I couldn't wait for hubby to get home and tell him the good news.

As for him, he came home 1/2 day early and surprised me. We went to a matinee this afternoon. He has arthritis in both hips and when he sits even for just a 90 minute movie he can't walk very good when he gets up. It takes awhile to get the joints moving. When we got up and left the theater we were 1/2 way down the aisle when it hit me....I turned around and he was right behind me and he wasn't hobbling. He said he could just barely feel the stiffness. We hadn't even realized that it was getting better.

This raw stuff rocks. I can't imagine why anyone would suffer with illness when raw is really great! I wish my children and grandchildren would listen.

Today has is not a good day. I woke up feeling really bad. Scratchy throat, congestion, a bit on the achy side. But I know I am still in detox stages so I am good. Just love that detox!:rolleyes:

Anyway, that you all for your encouragement. Today I'm down 12.5 pounds in 23 days. I'm dropping about 1/2 pound a day, which is great but my blood sugar is fluxuating up and down. Not stable yet. My blood pressure is getting more steady and on it's way down too. :)

Have a wonderful day!
