View Full Version : Reactions to blueberries

My mom wanted me to ask y'all a question ;)

Every time she eats blueberries, she seems to get bloated, and sometimes feels really bad a couple of hours after she eats them.
Today she took the blueberries, blended them with water, strained them through cheesecloth to make sure all the seeds were out.
She used them in a smoothie, and she made sure the other fruits she used could be "combined" with the blueberries. About an hour later she was very bloated, stomach pain, low back really hurting, achy all over, etc...
All she can think of was that it was the blueberries, because this is the reaction she has had before. She did not put any greens in her smoothie, so it was just the fruit.

Any ideas?
Thanks
Cathy

Why in the world would she continue to eat them if they do that to her? I have trouble with most fruits. They give me terrible stomach pains. So I don't eat them. *shrugs*

Could be a mild food allergy. Unfortunately that's not something you can do much about unless you take a lot of time fasting/cleansing etc. to attempt to get rid of it...which may or may not ever work out.

I'm not sure why she ate them again??

I think she thought it was the "seeds" in the blueberries, so she thought that if she strained just the juice out, then the juice wouldn't affect her.

She knows all the benefits of blueberries and was really wanting to get some in her diet.
Also if you read my other post about my dad having stage 4 cancer, she is trying to get both of them eating better, and eating foods that help fight cancer.

She said tonight that she would never touch another one again, but was wondering what caused it.
