One day early even (jane b does the Happy Snoopy Dance)!!!!
And of course, I didn't have anything big enough to put it thru its paces except a very old butternut squash--literally the last of my winter stores.
So I whacked off the business end and put the thinnest blade in. Away we went, and in less than a minute, lovely lovely shreds.
I decided to try an Asian influence, so I tossed the shreds with sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic, a few drizzles of agave, and my favorite seasoned salt (Badia Sazon Completa). Then I crumbled some raw sliced almonds in it as well. Stirred it all up and waited very impatiently for the shreds to soften.
OMG, so yummy!!!! Taste and texture like softened chow mein noodles, so I decided to toss the lot in the dehydrator to make snack food. Now I'm thinking I might just go buy another butternut and try dehydrating the shreds (sans the garlic and seasoned salt), and using them *like* chow mein noodles for those yummy chocolate haystack candies.
The mind reels with possibilities! And to think one of the managers of the local health food store told me that raw foods were too "hard" and "complicated." Cretin....
